Reject Loop Take

The Mackie Control help file states that if you hold M1 and hit stop then it will "Reject Loop Take". Is this an error or has anyone gotten that to work. I track a fair amount of vocals and many folks like to comp a whole verse at a time. If they flub early in the take it would be awesome if I could hit a button that discarded that take and restarted the loop from the top. Does this functionality exist in sonar? Is there a work around that I'm missing? Does the mackie button function that way or is that a mistake in the help file. It's a small issue but I've seen that even the few seconds of reset time (or laying out and waiting for the loop to come back around) can make even a mildly self-conscious vocalist start to get in their own head and lose their mojo:)

    It's not a one-click function in SONAR. Basically it would be Spacebar to stop the transport, Ctrl+Z to undo recording, and W to rewind (if Rewind on Stop is not enabled). I don't know a lot about Mackie Control, but I'd be surprised if it ran a series of commands like that, especially given that they might need to be different, depending on where you started recording from, whether you have looping or punch enabled, and what option you have set for transport behavior on stop.

    I have Spacebar, Ctrl+Z, W programmed into my left hand.

    I was going to answer the same thing, but that doesn't actually work if it's, say, the third take in a loop. It's just enough clicking about in that case to be annoying. I would vote for a feature like this.

    I was about to respond the same way. If it's the 3rd take the undo kills them all. Thanks for response guys! I will post the suggested feature on the feedback page.

    It is easy to make a key combination in autohotkey for this but don't have a Mackie Control to play with. The key combination bound to Windows+W would be
    #w:: Send,{Space}^zw
    or to undo and re-record, here bound to Windows+R
    #r:: Send,{Space}^zr
    or redo the current take
    #r:: Send,{Space}^{Home}r

    Would that actually undo ONLY the last take in a loop recording? If so, I'm gonna have to set this up, I haven't done anything with autohotkeys at all.

    Whoa! You can make it redo the current take? I will look into this!

    Yes, in that case. You're better off just hitting Spacebar and W, and deleting the abandoned take lane later.

    For this and other reasons, I don't generally do loop recording. I just record one take at a time, and if I foul up early on I just whack that take and start over.
