Remember when?
Oh, it's been a while now, but I remember when they came out and introduced plastic shopping bags as the "environmentally sensitive" thing to do...remember? It was to save the trees and reduce pollution and save the planet..... yadda yadda yadda..... Now they have changed their minds..... they want to BAN the plastic bags... in favor of what? Paper, or worse yet, bring your own bags... made from what? Plastic, paper or canvas? I'm thinking it will be the same thing in 10 years with the toxic light bulbs....wait until the toxic chems start getting into the landfills and the lakes and water supply... they will wish for the edison light bulb again..... the LED lights also have toxic stuff in them so....are they the solution or........ was edison the best we had?

Bass Am notes were once verboten too. Now they're all the rage. The kids love 'em.

I wonder if Am notes have the same mercury levels as CFLs. Or are they a completely different element, bapunium, maybe?

trimph1 back to cloth bags and candles...oh...and horse and buggy.... It's interesting (to me anyway ) to think that the era of the horse ended only 50-60 years ago, but stretched back a thousand years before that. Sometimes I think we're moving way too fast...

Telsa was way ahead of his time.... imagine what he would be working on with the technology available today..... I think we'd have teleporters. HAARP.... probably springs directly from Telsa's notebook.

Tesla was right. Edison wanted public distribution of power to be distributed as DC. Tesla wanted AC. there are many technical reasons why DC distribution would be a nightmare.

Telsa was working on wireless power transmission, which would have made power pretty cheap. He just needed to solve the inefficiency problem. He was right about AC vs DC...edison's grid would have been a nightmare. On a recent TV show on this topic, the 2 men were competing against each other and it was amazing to hear the politics, distortions, and outright lies used against the other's concepts and ideas.

People forget that Tesla also created the flourescent bulb (as well as a competitive incadescent for the world's fair - a completely new design that worked just as well as Edison's, but was cheaper and easier to make - and he did it in just a few weeks!).
