Re-mix I Need You Tonight

The lyric  has something to do with a person that I ones knew. She was a great friend, but we both had to cut it off, because it was becoming some thing more than that. It took every thing I had to do so. Lyrics have always been a lot of work for me, so I always try to put some of me in them.

This is the first time Im working with out head phone on the mix down. I'm using my M-Audio AV 40s that my wife bought me for the first time, on this song. It's nice to have the head phones off.

Mix sounds good on my NS10's.  Something is missing like a softer vocal sound?  Maybe mixing instruments at different levels for more depth?  Here is an idea to take with a grain of salt.  Try signing the first verse almost as a whisper.  Really close to the mic and with lots of air.  Kenny Loggins did that really well.  Then track yourself in the chorus with not quite as much edge on you voice.  See if that doesn't help draw the listener into your song.

Your voice is so unique that once you develop a taste for it, you can't put it down.  I'm not sure I agree with Rimshot, but there may be different ways to process your voice in different sections of the song.  For example, you might try a reverb on the verses and a delay on the chorus.  Or vice versa.  No matter, it's just cool.

    All the best,

    Thanks for the input!!!

    Hi Terry,
Here some examples of verses sung with more air.  I know this is not your style but "This Is It" has a good dynamic between verse and chorus delivery.  That is what I was mentioning.
