Remix and master of Perfect Lovers ( now with original unmastered version for comparison)
Here's a remix and additional "colouring" of a song I posted a few months ago. I initially mastered the song in Sonar using just Soar plugins and then as an experiment I mastered with AAMS automatic mastering software. This is the AAMS version which to my ear has just a whisker more presence than my original effort. https://soundcloud.com/wal-pawlik/perfect-lovers All opinions welcome.

Sounds great to me. It's got that 70's crossover sound I really like. You've got a terrific country voice. I don't know what your age is, but you should seriously consider trying your luck out in Nashville. On the other hand, Mo Pitney is the best country singer-songwriter talent I've heard come along in nearly 60 years, and even he's having a tough time getting the music-town gears to fall into place. It's a crying shame. There's no shortage of good talent in the world, but there's a great shortage of company-people who appreciate it and are willing to give them a leg up.

Wayfarer: Thanks for the listen and positive comments, but I can't take the credit for the vocals, only the production. The singer is the singer of our band down here in South Australia and is making a name for himself fronting our band. It's true there is a lot of talent around, is just that the breaks are few. Cheers W

Would be interesting to hear an A|B test between your original/AAMS. Regardless, well done on the tune!

Thanks for sharing both versions, I'm assuming the 'original' has your own in the box mastering? It could be the voodoo of knowing which version is which but overall the AAMS one seemed to glue the track together nicely, i.e., the auto mastering seemed to add just enough compression while not overdoing it. I notice the original has a hint more low end (or rather the AAMS one seems to compress the lows more) while the AAMS version has more crispy highs. Somehow though the guitar is subtly more pronounced in the original (dynamics), maybe more compression in the mids from AAMS?? Either way, the differences are minor and probably personal preference at this point; both versions are great, congrats.

You've sure got the sound that dominated country radio when I was a kid. I can hear the differences between versions but I couldn't tell you which one was better if you held a gun to my head. Nice song, nice performances all around.

The differences are subtle and it's a toss up to which I prefer. kevinwal You've sure got the sound that dominated country radio when I was a kid. Thanks for the listen kevin. I was purposely going for that old sixties sound. Cheers jammer.
