Remove Audio Files

i have some audio files that my project no longer uses.  nhow do i remove them so they are not queried for at project loading?  i see under "Project" the audio files are listed, but there is no tool to remove that i can see.

thanks.

Have you tried (from the top menu bar) Utilities -> Clean Audio Folder?

i don't think that works.  i no longer have those audio files, which is why it says they are missing when i load the project.  i want to stop the project from looking to load them.

Do a save as to your desktop. Make sure you've got "Copy audio with project" checked.

Delete the original project from your project folder via Windows Explorer

Move your "saved as" project from desktop back to your project folder

You are using "per project folders" yes?

Unless you have a hard drive that is nearing capacity, I'd leave the files alone.

Buy an external storage drive (USB) and copy the old projects into that new drive. this will free up the space on a drive getting full.

Using the "clean audio folder" can be problematic and trying to pick and choose the proper files from the audio folder is a PITB.  Leave them and simply move the files to a storage drive.

i tried the save as command, with the include audio files checked, but the audio folder that is saved is empty, unlike the original audio folder.  not sure why that didn't copy over automatically.

as for per project folder, if u mean do i have a separate, independent folder per project, yes.

also, this is not a storage issue.  it's having to click the error screen to skip audio not found.  not a big deal, but i was hoping it was easily solvable.

If you did a save as and your using CWP with pe project audio folders and nothing is in your audio folder upon this save, then there is no audio in your project

sorry, but there are a dozen audio (wav) files, down from the original 20.  i see them listed when it asks me to find 1 not listed there.

when i do save as, the cwp file is saved in the new location, as is the audio folder.  but it is empty, even tho the audio path for where to save them is correct.

this project had previously been moved.  not sure what is happening.

I have no clue. I do a "save as" to other hard drives daily and and the audio is always in the audio folder in the new location.
Something is going wrong when your performing a "save as" Triple check all your settings, as it has to be a setting

i moved the project from a now gone hard drive, simple copy/paste in explorer.  i saw i no longer needed a few of the audio files so thought it ok not to include them on my new drive, but X1 seems to have a problem with that.

so what happens when u have an audio track which u no longer need?  i deleted the audio track, but x1 is still asking for the audio file as the project loads.

Ignore it, leave it alone, don't delete it

i deleted the audio track, but x1 is still asking for the audio file

Therefore it's still being referenced by your project somewhere and should NOT have been deleted.

i see kontakt 5 is not loading properly.  it says the CLSID doesn't match its reference, and suggests to load it from another place, where it is now.  i guess when i transfered the project that reference got changed?  i do a plug in scan and it gets to the kontakt 5 folder and then loads fine.

but when i open the project later, i still get that message.

    how do i fix that?

You do not delete audio file sin the project folder. You delete them in the open project. The reason why dyou dont delete them in the folder, is that the project was last saved with the audio and now its looking for the audio and cannot find it, since you deleted it in the audio folder.

Just delete the tracks in the open project.
