What exactly are these issues? They may stem from a common cause. For example, a lot of people reported numerous problems with VST plug-ins until they did a full plug-in scan using Plug-In Manager. Also, some issues seem tied to enabling the 64-bit audio engine. It would be interesting to see if your issues went away after disabling the 64-bit audio engine and re-scanning the plug-ins.

CakeAlexS Yup we refuse to tell you until you tell us ! :)
Alex thank you for your quick reply and sharp whit :P I have reported all issues to a tech at cakewalk about a week ago and have gotten no reply... Some of the issues are: Currently each time I attempt to process a fx on a clip sonar crashes not the first time but second time i apply the same effect. I have sent a crash report about concurrently apply efx to clip... Also I now can no longer see all of my vst/dx/vst3 plugins (in my custom menu layout) when inserting an efx to clip. But can see these plugins when inserting dsp to track. Now 8 bit midi data does sync with audio and keeps erratic timing The first few midi notes sent to external source have delayed playback When inserting a second instance of Virus Ti VST3 only midi channel 1 plays with sound all others dead audio via USB audio and Analogue Outs. Automation for enable eq only functions when selected on that track Sonar frequently crashes on start up Sonar is no longer able to connect with Soundcloud/Upload (when logged in) thnx... ps love cakewalk and have been an avid user since cakewalk ver.2 when bundled with my turtle beach sound card and I know that new versions often have some glitches... :)

Agreed. FYI it seems Windows has done a lot of updates lately. Not sure if that's a good thing (i.e., Sonar was interacting with broken parts of Windows) or a bad thing (Sonar hasn't been tested for compatibility with the changes in Windows). But hey, what do I know about code? [Answer: Not a whole lot.]

All kidding aside...I haven't done this myself, but wouldn't the easiest option be: 1. Locate SONARPDR.EXE 2. Right-click and choose "Restore to Previous Version." When I right-clicked on the version that showed up, selected "Properties," and clicked the Details tab, the Product Version showed Sonar X3b.

It's a Windows thing, but it appears Cakewalk is more conscientious about implementing it.

Craig, Watch out for that change. You will only revert the .exe you clicked on. This means that if other files were updated, you don't get the updates for those other files as well. Spelled out... If you revert SONARPDR.EXE, and the X3c update modified any VSTs, the VSTs will NOT be rolled back. only the one EXE you clicked on. It may work as a quick test to see if a re-install might solve your problem, but I don't think it is guaranteed to be as robust as a reinstall. I believe the name of the 'Windows Thing' is Shadow Copy... read more here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Copy Mbogue Nice... :)

The audio engine itself is still 64-bit, and that is a different thing than the double-precision floating-point processing. I also believe from comments posted in various other threads that the Cakewalk developers were suggesting only temporarily turning off the 64-bit double-precision processing for those having certain issues, while they look into whether or not they have some internal tweaking to do to it. There are also countless threads out there endlessly debating the ability to even hear the minute differences using 64-bit double-precision processing offers, so I think at best there would be only occasionally audible differences, and even there it would only be for extremely large projects, where the super tiny differences would potentially add up to something even audible to humans. So hang in there, there are lots of really good features to work with in any case, and they are looking into what is going on with that functionality. Bob Bone

Au contraire! I rolled back to X3b by using system restore because I was having problems with the Console Emulator buzzing, and I'm not satisfied with the solution of turning off the 64 bit double precision engine. Since then, I'm seeing many more problems with the X3c patch being reported, so I'm of the conclusion that CW didn't get this one right. I AM happy with X3b, and it's working well on my system. I can wait for CW to fix this before updating, and I'm confident they will eventually get this right.
