Removing an event

I am recording a Koto.... and have entered a wheel event that I now wish to edit /remove. I would like to reduce the level of the wheel event by about 50% to see if that makes it sound better or if that fails.... remove it totally. 

I'm missing something on how to do this without loosing other events in the track as well.

My quick solution is to split the clip and delete it and punch in a new clip with less wheel....

thoughts?  Help didn't help.

    the quick fix worked.... quickly... but say I didn't want to punch in.... how do you edit it.

    Found another work around....

    1. record the track straight
    2 . go back and record the events afterward using blend. The events are then deletable without messing with the underlying midi notes.

    I didn't realize that a Koto had a wheel on it! 

    I assume you mean you're recording MIDI from your keyboard and the output will be a Koto sampled library?  and you used the mod wheel to emulate bending of strings or something, but you want less wheel during a particular note?

    if that's the case then you just need to edit the MIDI controller events for wheel. 

    I think you have said before you use MC4 for recording, if that's the case ,then in the PRV, make sure you have the controller pane showing (there's an icon for it, but I don't remember exactly what it looked like in MC4).  then you will need to set the controller pane to show you MIDI events for controller #1 (mod wheel).  honestly I can't remember how to do that either and I don't have MC with me at work to look at it).  check the help files if you can't figure out how to add specific controller #'s to the view.

    then just use the pencil tool to reduce the mod wheel data.

    Use the Event List to make simple edits to events on your midi track.

    To set the Pitch Wheel Range, I believe you need to do the following:

    Controller 101 0 RPN MSB
    Controller 100 0 RPN LSB
    Controller 6 12 ( Set pitch bend to 12 semitones = One octave )

    To do this go into the Event list, go to the time you want to insert the events ( probably at the beginning)
    1. Insert an event ( Probably can use the insert button)
    2. Change Type to Control
    3. Change Data to 100 and next field to 0
    4. Insert another event ( Probably can use the insert button)
    5. Change Type to Control
    6. Change Data to 101 and next field to 0
    7. Insert another event ( Probably can use the insert button)
    8. Change Type to Control
    9. Change Data to 6 and next field to desired Range Value ( 1 to 24 ) where 2 is 2 half steps or +/- 1 half step

    yeah you got it Beagle...Sound center has a pretty decent sounding Koto.

    I'm logged off now, but I'll check those options later.  Since I'm doing another tune very  similar to that one.

    I'll post a link later if you're interested in hearing this "experiment"/waste of time.
