Reporting a fault with the fault reporter

Just had a crash. Fault Reporter comes up. I hit submit, and it fails. I think I've tried it about 6 or 7 times over the years and not once do I remember it successfully submitting. What's the deal here - is it just me?

Not just you.  I recently had a crash opening a project in Lexington and the fault reporter popped up...no luck in getting it submitted.  I haven't had an issue since so I didn't take any further steps to report this particular crash, but I too have noticed this has been a consistent issue over the years.  Not that I get a lot of crashes, just that when I do, the fault reporter has never worked for me.

It's not just you. I've never seen it submit successfully in the 15 or so occasions I've seen it appear over the past year.

There's also the problem that it doesn't even appear after the other 80% or so of crashes.

I've had very few crashes since the fault reporter was added but I don't think it ever worked. It may be that it was all done in the background but I've seen nothing in terms of notification. Thankfully Sonar crashes are very rare for me.

I didn't know there was a fault reporter until SPlat crashed three times in succession this afternoon.  The third time, i went through the dialog in the popup window, described my workflow and off it went.  Got a note back with a link to a case of some sort for tracking.  Worked like a charm...the reporting part, anyway!

Agreed the irony is not amusing.

I've asked around about this with support.  If you could report the version of fault reporter you have?
Look in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities for the FaultReporter.exe
Get the version from the tooltip that appears or from right click properties and Details.

Thanks and hope we can get this resolved soon.

Can you please describe what we should see when it works, so that I'll recognize it if it ever does?
