Request for consultrathin email

Hi everybody. I got an email from a young man who asked if I would consider setting up a phone consultation so that Cakewalk could get some ideas from one of the users. I'm wondering if everyone else, or anyone else has gotten a similar email? If it's for real I think it would be a great thing that Cake is reaching out to the end-users once more.

No I have not. I'm not sure what the emailer can do and what he is offering. Nor do I think CW had anything to do with it.

    Very odd.

    "Hello,

My name is Lance Riley and I'm a Product Manager at Cakewalk. I'd like to get to know our SONAR Platinum customers a little better and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind scheduling a call with me?

We are reaching out to random customers who currently own SONAR Platinum to talk to them about their experience and how they use SONAR. We want to take those incites and make using SONAR a better experience and focus on building the most meaningful features for our customers.

If you're open to a 30 minute call with me, please make sure you reply to this email that you are interested. I will then reach out to you to schedule a time.

Otherwise, I appreciate any information you would like to share with us, and thanks again for your business"

That's the text from the message.

It sounds legit to me. If you are concerned for authenticity, just PM Lance to clarify.

Hmmm... Using the word "incites" instead of "insights" could be a warning sign... or just a typo.  PM would be advised.

In the 13 years I've been using Sonar products, this is the first time I'm hearing of anything like this.
Probably fake, especially since this forum gives them enough information regarding what features we value.

Yes it did make me curious. I was thinking maybe it was a sales guy for Cubase or digital performer or something cold calling. If it's for real I'd be pretty happy just because recently it's been impossible to get tech support while in the past it was a quick phone call away.
I did email back and said sure but I didn't give any information besides my social security number and mother's maiden name..

I would PM lance and find out that way. I can think of a dozen reasons not to reply to the email. However, its your email and you have the final word on it.

Not the first time CW has done this. Obviously, not every user is going to get an invitation, so it's a rare opportunity to give some personal feedback. If you want to confirm the email is really from Lance, look at the email header and see if it's really from the cakewalk.com domain and not spoofed.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Actually using the word "incites" instead of "insights" indicates it probably is Lance, he's done that before in correspondence with me. I need to warn him about the perils of auto-complete

    Hey Steve,

That is from me. I sent you a follow up to schedule a time to talk. Please check your email. No Spam and definitely not a sales call. We are reaching out to random customers with the hope to learn more about how our customers use SONAR.

I got one of these back after I purchased Home Studio. I was going to respond but was giving it some time to use the software first. Now I don't see the E mail in my in Box, I  might have deleted it along with the dozens of other Cakewalk emails I get like post marked as helpful etc. So Lance, I'd be glad to offer feedback now I've had more than a month with the software.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's been the human interaction that's kept me a loyal Cakewalk user since version 3 on a 3.5 disc..
