Resizing Matrix View - SOLVED! -

Hi All!

As strange as this may sound, in all the years I've been working with Sonar I've nevere felt the need or urge to use the Matrix view until now.

The only problem is this:

I can't seem to get it to "resize"!!

The Matrix view takes up the entire GUI of Sonar and I cant seem to find a way to just have it "float" in front of the Track View so I can drop files into it!!

Wierd, to say the least. Can anyone help with this oddity??

Thanks,

Harpo

    Harpo,

No offense, but perhaps you have the Matrix sub-window set to 'Maximize'. That is, in the upper-right corner of (virtually) all Windows applications there are three, small icons - the left most is a 'minus' symbol used to 'Minimize' the application, a small rectangle used to 'Maximize' or 'Restore-Down' (changes to two, overlapping rectangles for this state), and an 'X' used to close the application. If the application (e.g., Sonar) has sub-windows, each sub-window has its own identical three icons in the upper-right corner of the window that serve the same function for the sub-window.

If the Matrix sub-window is set to 'Maximize', simply left-click the middle, overlapping rectangle icon and you should be able to re-size and reposition the Matrix window as desired.

I hope you won't take offense at this explanation of Windows behavior. If you already know about this feature, I apologize. I tried the Matrix view myself just now to verify that it works as expected, so if the problem is not caused by 'Restore-down' button, I'm at a loss to explain it.

    Good luck.

    Yes, bbent9175

I am totally aware of all the "resizing" icons on the Windows platform.
Thanks anyway though, because I have more than once missed the obvious and took myself into a world of mahem before realizing "I didn't have the damn thing plugged in"!!

    This is much different.

When I click on the Matrix button the Matrix appears maximized. When I try to "Restore Down", it barely budges (but appears to still be maximized) and the resizing icons dissapear!!

    Very weird.

I've tried disabling "Floating", minimizing the Track View, with no luck at resiziing the Matrix View!!

Anyone else have any suggestions!!!  Please!!

Ya know, there's something to be said about persistance, even in the face of ignorance.

This is how I came to my enlightenment.

    A suggestion from Tech Support:

Once you click on the "Restore Down" button, you can scroll to any corner of the Matrix window and resize it by "dragging" the corners of the Matrix window.

I tried it and it didn't work as suggested.

I noticed that each time I hit the "restore down" button the whole Track view along with the Matrix View were resized, but I couldn't get the Matrix view to stay "on top"!
Whenever I clicked on the Track view the Matrix view would disappear, and visa versa.

So now I decided to click on the Matrix view Icon (top left) after it had been "Restored Down" (along with the Track View of course),. I then selected "Enable Floating".
I moved the Matrix View to my second monitor and once there, Maximized my Track View.
I then "floated" the Matrix view back to my original monitor, and "Presto", it sat very nicely in front of my Track view as it should!

I doubt many would run into this problem, but here's my solution "Just in case"!

    Thanks
