Re-sizing multiple tracks at once...
Managing track heights in SONAR has always been a tedious chore for me. Without a simple "rubber banding" element, and even when using "set default height", there's always a repetitive process that really takes my focus off the chore at hand. I was working today and I suddenly realized that there's no way to adjust multiple track heights at once. And I'm not talking about ALL track heights, I mean SOME. I think in my own tedium I had forgotten that you can not simply select several tracks and somehow adjust those selected track heights. I really wish this was possible (and if somehow I've missed it please feel free to prove me wrong). (Obviously I'm doing a lot of detailed editing today)

I think you can, but I'm not sure if this works. Select the tracks you want to resize, then holding shift (maybe ctrl?), drag re-size one of them. I *think* that works.

Shift and drag with tracks selected does work. Thanks for the info because I didn't know this tip.

Really? SHIFT + Drag doesn't work over here.

Yeah It's working here in the Track View. This is what I'm doing: Select tracks by clicking on their track number (making them green) while holding control. Release control and hold shift. Then resize one of the tracks by grabbing the bottom of one of the selected tracks, and all selected tracks will change to that size when you release the mouse button. I'm running Sonar 8.3.1 as well.

Ah I get it now. The tracks don't resize together at the same time, you only see the one track resizing until you release the mouse and then they all snap. This is the lamest implementation of this I have ever seen! The only reason to resize multiple tracks is to fit them all within some real estate, or to have them all show the same widgets. Waiting until you're done and then having the heights snap is yet another jarring element to my workflow. Sheesh, disappointing. But, thanks for showing me the shortcut, I reckon it WILL help, though it does trade one set of problems for another (albeit smaller) set.

Talk about coincidence. I was griping about this very issue last night. Griping loudly to the cat, but griping nonetheless. They should improve this. I propose: Expand should have at least three levels. - Expand each track to equal heights to fit project to window
- Expand to a predetermined size per track such as track default height
- Expand to a logical snap point, where the track height expands just enough that you can see all visible controls for that track's view (e.g. Channel, Bank, I/O,etc.) I think this is what you're calling "rubber band" snapping.
Each of these should apply appropriately to multi-selected tracks. Level 1 would then expand the selected tracks and collapse the others. In order to expand all tracks, just Ctrl+A first to select all tracks. You're right, the Shift+Drag option is a half-assed implementation. They need to draw the updates while the drag is taking place, not just on MouseButtonUp.

In order to expand all tracks, just Ctrl+A first to select all tracks. Personally, I don't like the idea of ctrl a for select all tracks. It means that clip selections I have at that point would be lost. Perhaps another command for select all tracks. ? ............

Yes you can, just highlight all the tracks you want to re- size. Drag one of the track to the size you want plus hold down the shift KEY !!!

Ctrl + a for select all has been a feature of SONAR since at least 6PE so any change would be totally unwelcome here. Also, many Windows based programs use the same protocol - Word, Excel, Outlook etc But, any time you make a track selection you lose clip selection anyway, so I don't really understand your point.
