[Resolved] Master Bus SILENT in Project

Help.  I'm stumped.  I've got a single project that will not allow sound to come from my master Bus.  It doesn't appear to be a hardware issue, as all other projects function fine.  If I route any busses or tracks directly to the audio output, they work fine.  It's when I route them to the master bus, and then route that master bus to the output that I have a problem.  I've even set up an entirely new bus, deleted the old master, and routed all busses and tracks to the new master.  Silence.  The VU meters on the master don't even light up.  All other VU's light up.  And again, if I switch the output to ANY of the busses or tracks to the hardware output, I get audio.  Sonar just doesn't want to recognize the master bus on this particular project.  Any ideas?

Perhaps try hitting "o" (not zero but the letter o). This is the Envelope Offset Mode. (you will see a + sign appear)

Check if the Master Fader is somehow at the 0 (infinity) position. If it is just push it up to unity and all should be fine.

just remember to hit "o" after that to get out of Offset Mode.

hope this helps...

Also, if you have any plugins on your master buss, try disabling them.

"O" has no effect on the master bus.  I have never adjusted the fader on it.  It remains at 0 (not infinity, but zero). Removing plugins was the first thing I tried--before completely replacing the bus with another bus.

Create a new bus and label it Master. Direct all the tracks to that Master and then direct the master to your sound card's 1/2 outs. Delete the old master bus

You know.  This is the 1st project I tried using one of the Cakewalk Templates on.  I deleted all unused tracks, and I'm back in business.  I'll never use one of their templates again.  I typically just add tracks one-at-a-time, as needed.

Fruck tempates!! They where not made for your music. I have no clue why people use templates made by other people who never heard their music before and do not have access to your tracks. It boggles me!!!!

I started with Normal, but left that a long time ago.  I have several custom ones I built to suit my quirks and approaches, depending on what I am doing.

Can Someone help Me. I have Sonar Studio x3. I reinstall Sonar after getting new operating system. Sonar works fine, but I have no master fader showing. When I insert audio tracks they all come up but I have no Master, I use focusrite scarlett 2+4 interface, and its my in and out audio. There is a red master fader but I can't add any effects to it like before. What am I doing wrong?

Usually SONAR includes templates that have a Master bus defined. I am sure X3 did. When using a template that lacks a master bus either select one of the existing buses or create a new bus, right-click on the bus header and enable "Set as Default Bus"

Once added all new tracks will have their output set to this bus. Existing tracks do not automatically pick up the bus.

BTW, next time consider creating a new thread. Usually a better idea than resurrecting an old unrelated thread.

If you DON'T use a template you MUST insert your own Master Buss on any new project.

Roue the output of it to your interface (the Red Master Fader buss) and route the output of all your other tracks or busses to the Master Buss
