[Resolved] This is freebie...does it go in Deals or Here (or both = REDUNDANT)

http://boscomac.free.fr/?p=viola_organista

Boscomac releases Viola Organista, a free Reaktor module string instrument. The ensemble is based on a strange instrument called “Viola Organista” which dates from the 15th century, was first described in the Codex Atlanticus of Leonardo da Vinci.
The basic concept of this instrument is very ingenious: a system of wheels with horsehair is fixed for rub the taut strings. Under the action of a key, the sound begins to vibrate, result of friction. The expression of this instrument is impressive because the player can play Crescendo on a keyboard! This instrument sounds like a viola, but it looks very similar to an organ. It is unknown whether Leonardo da Vinci managed to build a working prototype of the original viola organista concept.
This great instrument from Boscomac was programmed with the excellent software REAKTOR 5.9 by Native Instruments and you need the full version of Reaktor 5.9+ for use Viola Organista.
If you own Reaktor this instrument defenitly worth your attention.

Just my 2 cents (or 1), I would think it would make the most sense for all instruments or the like to go into the Deals free or discounted. Freebees are usually a means of advertizing a companies other products which feels like offering a deal to me. By the way I like this freebie. The demo sounds good to me.

Sounds like a product announcement to me, free or not.  This is a good place for it.

When it's been around for a while and starts getting bundled with other stuff I'm sure it will end up as a great deal post...

Larry,

Appologize for all of us that you have to wander through artificial legal fine print to pass on a gem that you have found. Work in a hospital here in the outbacks. Healthcare environment getting more convoluted and perverted as well. Just a sad sign of the times.

Updates, sales, tips, heads ups you submitted on this forum were a one stop delivery of what we needed to be aware of, amplified by expert users who weighed in if you were off the wall or not. Beautiful dynamic. High energy flow of information and kept us very well informed.

Work insane hours and don't have the energy or motivation to search multiple forums to connect the dots any more.

If things go like global industries are headed, more constipated restrictions and legal fine print are on the horizon. Will soon look back on this newest "improvement"  of the respected cakewalk forums like it was the good old days.

It's a product announcement. It doesn't matter if it's a freebie or $1,000, overpriced or a bargain. It clearly belongs in the Software forum. The news isn't that it's free, the news is that it's a new and potentially useful instrument.

There's no need to over-think it.

I agree with John. Larry (and all of us) did have a one-stop-shop so-to-speak. If I want to look for something, I had one place to go. Now, I will have to look at two places.

Suggestion: Put all items for sale, new, old good, bad, worn out, in one palce and call it: Software Deals.

We're trying to!  The forum is called Deals.

This forum is for discussing software. What you do with it, how you use it, how easy it is or isn't to use, what you recommend should be done with it (within the terms of the C of C)  all in one place.

I get it.

That post was directed to all members. IOW: All of us! :)

What I am saying is that someone may post a new product here and not in the deals section.

Now you have someone who only wants to only see "what's for sale" and not discuss sw. They only go to the Deals section. They won't see what's posted here. They will have to wade through all the discussions about sw to find out about a new product.

Here is what I can say...

I will be making ALL of my posts in the "DEALS" forum from henceforth...
my personal opinion is that this is a very silly situation because, as Mesh
stated, it was usually the "deals" that spurred the "other" conversations/debates...
those who wish to "discuss" can remain here and carry on...

I will then allow the Gestapo to put it where they "feel" it belongs if they fell
it's out of place...

That solves all my problems...and will create "work" for these newly created "jobs"!
Isn't that what "Capitalism" is all about?

They will all be legitimate Deals because FREE is still a DEAL...
so that won't be a violation of the TOS LMNOP QRST....
That will solve my issues with this new arrangement...end of story

BYE BYE

This is not open for debate...nor does it need to be...I will be posting there...
feel free to bash me all you want...it's a lot easier to
"stay in one place" with the amount of information I have to
wade through...

Thanks for your continued patronage  (maybe)...

We didn't used to have to think about it at all.

Have to agree that this split forum idea is amongst the sillier ideas in the brave new world.

As Ryan has already said, the Bakers wanted to stop all the "great deals" posts completely on the grounds of spamming.  We talked them into keeping them on the basis they were a useful resource for people.  ccLarry does a great job finding and posting them so we don't miss those 24 hour specials.

They are not intended for discussion,  they're notices, they have their own place where you can see them all together. If you think that's silly, then it's a lot more than you would have had if they'd been banned as spam.

Larry has said he'll continue posting the Deals in the Deals forum, yet 3 days in and the same argument is still being re-posted...  Please consider this topic finished.

That what I don't like about moderators. They decide when the topic is over even though others are still discussing.

You say "three days in" like that's a long time.

Why can't the discussion go on if people want to talk about it?

I agree with Ryan. The reasons behind the two forums are sound and reasonable.

And I am glad the moderators went to bat for all of us and got the Deals section set up. A big thank you for that.

[edit] Some moderators are going about this very well. Others seem to be a little too anxious to moderate! 😊

Anybody else here visit kvraudio from time to time? Over there, they've split software discussions into many sub-forums, which elicits no complaints. Instruments have their own forum, effects another, and deals in yet another. Sample libraries get their own category, and patch libraries recently got their own slot as well, separate from sound design.

It makes it a better place to go looking for information. What if you went to the library (you remember libraries, right?) and there was only one section, labeled "books"?

Yes, I agree that it's not apples-to-apples comparing this place to kvr. That place has some extremely cantankerous regulars and even mundane discussions routinely devolve into flame wars. We're far more civil here.

KVR has a LARGE forum index and yes it's nice when you need to find specific info......on the other hand, over here, we're a much smaller (somewhat more warmer) "intimate" group with a smaller forum structure and not a cold environment like KVR is.
For me, that makes a big difference in regularly wanting to visit here.......it's nice to have the smaller forums grouped together with all the discussions in one place. I love software......I love deals........hate to break them apart....lol.

Being at KVR you feel like you're just a number, but over here it's more like hanging out with good friends......(not always, but most of the time).

Yes, I think KVR has too many subforums... I go there once in a blue moon... and usually leave without bothering to look for what I was interested in.

Of course KVR is primarily a website designed to maximize traffic and it seems to realize the opportunity to present advertisements on as many pages as you will look at. All the extra sub forums and pages facilitate the mission of KVR nicely.

I like frequenting a place where I can become familiar with the personalities while witnessing info streaming by.

That process works well for me.

FWIW, This is simply a direct answer to your question, and it is not an attempt to continue any form of debate.
