Puffin617 I did not record the midi data, I plotted it with the mouse... If I export the midi and import it into FL Studio, I get a perfect playback :( This drama gets weird as it goes on lol. SO check this for me: 1- what's your MIDI Prepare Buffers set to (it's under Global Options-MIDI) 2- Do you have "reset all controllers" checked ? And 'Search backwards for Patch changes' checked? 3- What's your playback and record I/O buffers (under Options-Audio->Advanced)? The fact that you got it working for a little while means there's an answer to this somewhere with a little more digging in.

Drama, it is :-) 1- Under Global - MIDI - Playback --> Prepare Using: 250 ms buffers 2 - Both checked 3 - 256 (both unchecked) I load my wav audio from a ramdisk when opening a project.

Just for the heck of it - try unchecking the "Zero Controllers" - and the "Search patch back" stuff. Try putting your playback i/o buffers to 512 and record i/o buffers to 256. Lemme know if that makes any diff?

Puffin617 Hey... Tried the above settings... NO luck... That is strange. Maybe I can check some other things out later tonight when I'm at my DAW. This is a real stumper, I'm sure it's driving you crazy; but I do suspect there's some type of loopback going on in your setup.

I just loaded Vanguard into FL studio again... and it works seamless there with my keyboard... I started making music in FL and LOVE the workflow of it but SONAR just has a clearer final sound... I still want to believe that the problem lies with SONAR in the way it communicates with Vanguard... Let's hope we can solve this.

Latest observation... I downloaded the latest version of FL studio and started the app. The latest MIDI activity indicator that is on it's main panel shows me that the software is constantly receiving "unhandled" MIDI data from my keyboard... without me playing a single note... 28 days is a long time to wait to go get myself a new controller... This should actually be troubleshooting point no. 1 on my list... SO it seems SONAR gets MIDI data from my keyboard which it doesn't know what to do with and just sends it on to Vanguard in between all the note-on/off data... Setting the "System Exclusive" to OFF on my synth, stops all the "unhandled" midi data received by FL Studio... I feel as if i'm getting to the bottom of this...

Isn't there a MIDI filter/plugin I can install to filter just the MIDI messages I need?

I found A solution!!!!! I added a MIDI Event filter to my Vanguard channel and filtered off ALL the Controller CC# messages Works like a charm... Although the root of the problem is that my old keyboard sends these messages, this will work wonders till I get my new baby :-) Addendum: I found that CC# 123 gives me the problem - seems i'm getting a constant CC123 from my KB :(

But you probably can turn off some things that would mitigate this problem. It might be sending out constant CCs or aftertouch, etc.

Old (Roland) keyboards did have that as a feature I believe, to send out "All notes off" when no keys where played ... These days that interpretation isn't used anymore. Best Regards Ludvig

BTW, it might be appropriate to change the subject of this post now that we know there's no bug involved. Best Regards Ludvig
