Restless Legs Syndrome Blues
https://soundcloud.com/or...ss-legs-syndrome-bluesYep, this is a song about Restless Legs Syndrome. Although RLS sounds pretty trivial, it isn't. The lyrics pretty much describe my life before I was put on the right medication. If anything deserves to be the subject of a blues song, it's RLS. This song is in the traditional 12 bar blues style. Instruments used Indiginus Renegade - I love this sampled guitar! Ample guitar Spectrasonics Trilian on bass Real Guitar on rhythm guitar Addictive Drums Thanks for listening.

Hey Bjorn -- this is a real blues song -- I got the blues from hearing those symptoms you describe in the song -- glad you're over that with the meds :) The guitar lines are really good -- a very pleasing sound. I would suggest backing off the reverb a bit in the vocals so that it syncs up better with the rhythm. Over than that, a good demo of your song.

Hi Bjorn, I know what RLS is... Someone very close to me has it bad. So I know it's not something to be scoffed at. So is that song of yours all MIDI or do you play guitar too? Sounds pretty convincing to me. I can't really give any technical advice. Everything seems to sit together well to my ears. By the way, I ventured over to your home page and I have to say you take some pretty awesome wild life pictures. I don't have the patience for that and I tend to stick to motor sports myself... I know where the prey is going to be at any given time haha! cheers andy

Hi Andy
The song is all MIDI. I've thought about relearning the guitar after several years of not playing, but decided I'd rather spend my time composing music vs spending time playing scales over and over. I've done quite a lot of new age/space/dark ambient stuff in the past and will probably return to it. I don't think my recent attempts into vocals are going over too well judging by the lack of responses. Oh well.
Anyway, thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.

It sounds as if you have combined the melody of Piedmont Blues vocals with psychedelic Blues that some of the Chicago Blues guys did (in order to sell records) back in the late '60's. The Blues is all about real life and hard times, so you can bet that this is the Blues. I am glad that the med's are controlling it. Nice one!

bjornpdx, I enjoyed this... it has a nice and full, swampy sound. I also sympathize with the subject matter, as someone close to me suffers with this, too. Thanks for your song! LJ

I too have suffered with RLS. My cousin just told me about taking boron for it. It took about a week to kick in but I'm having very little trouble now. The medication scares me because it can have some bad side effects. My cousin's cousin a pharmacist said she would n't give her the medication any longer because she was worried about it.

Freddy J. Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the Blues is about real life and hard times. Can't say that my blues compare to the traditional blues topics - abandonment, prison, homelessness etc - but it's about suffering nonetheless.
skinnybones Thanks for the comments. Swampy sound? As in delta blues sound?
annifarkle I've never heard of using boron for RLS. I'll check it out. I'm a retired pharmacist and I didn't have any qualms about taking the med I'm on. Might have to withdraw from it b/c of side effects tho.

Nice little tune, but the lyrics are getting a bit lost in the reverb. You might consider backing that off some.

Total sympathy on the RLS front and the song is a good way to communicate. Like the song in general though the reverb on the vocal could do with being backed off a little. Thanks for sharing look forward to hearing some more from you.

phil Thanks for the suggestion about the reverb. Guess I went a little too far with it trying to improve my vocal.
daryl Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated.
Wookie Thank you. I'd like to donate the song to the RLS org group, maybe for one of their RLS awareness campaigns or something. Well, if they'd be interested.

You could have fooled me. The guitars sounds pretty realistic. Cool song.
