Retro ADpak No-Brainer

XLN Audio Retro Adpak.... anybody got it? Any opinions? Its 15 dollars, now, 88% off. 1300 midi loops and 70 presets, w/ three classic Ludwig drum sets from the 60s and 70s with cymbals from Paiste and Sabian. http://www.audiomidi.com/dp/B008DIDQWA

I don't have any AD Adpaks yet, so I'm not sure what if any would be good. I own BFD2 also. But I do like Addictive drums for some things.

Windows 7 64 bit, Sony Vaio Laptop Q740, 8 GB, Sonar Producer X1d, Focusrite Scarlett 18i, Korg Pa500, M-audio 61 Radium Keystation. Using Omnisphere, Trilian, Komplete 8, Morphestra, Orchestral Essentials, Evolve, Orange Tree Guitars, Addictive Drums, BFD2, Melodyne Editor, Studio One 2, Ozone 5, FabFilter.

I don't have AD either (just Superior/EZ drummer), but I'm thinking those 1300 midi loops might be well worth the admission price no?

The loops are great...some classic fills and Bonham stomps. I have been a long supporter of AD but after using Superior I find the AD drums to be thin and lacking oomph.

I'm a big Bonham fan, so this is something up my alley and I'd like to use the midi loops in Superior.

If you can get a drum map that works between AD midi and Superior, please let me know, because I have tried three separate time and cannot get it to work.

I do this all the time as I have both Toontrack and Addictive products.
I find using the Ezplayer pro really simple and quick - works seamlessly for me.
Retro is a good Ad Pak - absolute bargain

This is an incredible deal, it's a pity I already own it. This Adpak has a lot of great kitpieces--though the vistalite ones are actually my least favorite, but it makes up for that with everything else. It also includes a bunch of really useful cowbells, tambourines, etc.

It would be nice to bring these 1300 midi files into BFD2 for a bigger sound. I'm not sure if that's possible, but will look into it before I buy. The offer is good until 6-30.

    I got it  GREAT PRICE!!

IMHO - Addictive Drums are the BEST out there...and I have them
    all except BFD....

But that's just my opinion...this is normally $129.00

    $15 is a STEAL!

okay, so please if somebody knows:
if I want to use EZ player to play those great AD midi files on other drum kits like Superior Drummer: where are the files located? Are they in some proprietary bundle format that doesn't show up on any *.mid search?

Non-User Addictive MIDI is in a proprietary format...  they may have it as a separate download on their website though as Standard MIDI Files.

You can drag grooves manually from AD onto your desktop if you have patience though.

BTW we do have MIDI grooves in multiple formats.

XLNs user forums are great so I'd ask any questions there. They have actual employees on there all the time answering questions. During the week you can usually get an answer within a day or so. Last I checked though AD 64 bit was still in BETA but people were saying it was working.

And $15 is a STEAL. The Retro Pack was well over $100 last I checked. Maybe they're getting ready to roll out some new products. Personally I'd like to try the Jazz Packs. They have some wacky brushwork stuff that I think might be useful.

AD is working great in 64 bit Beta and I've used it for months, now. But I don't think 64 and 32 bit dll can coexist on your machine at this point, if I remember correctly. Double check that.

AD is my main drum synth. I have most of the paks and for the price for the Retro, you can't beat it.

I believe AD's midi files are part of a .pak file. You can get them through AD's gui and drag them to the track pane. They were wrote for AD's default keymap though.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
