Revert to default settings and preferences?
Cakewalk is so wonderfully, endlessly customizable and I have had a hard time understanding what some of the options do, not being able to access the documentation in a printable or offline readable format, so sometimes just tried things to see what they did. Now, having worked with it for almost 6 months, I wonder that I might have pressed a wrong button or two flailing around, maybe it might open up new artistic horizons to Allow Importing of WAV File Cue Markers or I've realized through bitter experience that you don't do heavy metal by Setting Track Envelopes With Clips. So, question: is there some way to restore all the Preferences and Options to what they were at first installation, back before I started monkeying with all of them? And if there is, is there a way to back them up before I do?

Hey Erik, I am also having a wonderful experience with Cakewalk. Try accesing preferences (hit "p"), check the "advanced" button and go to Configuration file/Reset config to defaults. https://i.imgur.com/emL8Te7.png

while cbb is not running, delete the aud.ini file, that will reset a whole bunch of stuff, but not everything

Short of performing a clean reinstall running a full repersonalization sets quite a bit back to factory defaults. To run it, right-click CbB then select open from the context menu while holding down the CTRL key. This will cause the personalization dialog to appear, clicking OK will overwrite the files in your personal directory from the master files in ProgramData and reset some registry entries. A clean install is not that difficult. The process is similar to the SONAR 2015 clean install process except use BandLab Assistant to uninstall/reinstall CbB and where the KB article mentions "SONAR <Platinum/Professional/Artist>" use "Cakewalk Core."

Okay, thanks! It's good to know how to do all these things, and it's really good to know how to back up the important stuff.

This is effectively the same as deleting the AUD.ini file mentioned in message 3. It only affects AUD.ini not the other 2 ini files in the user directory or the registry.
