Hey, Daryl,
this is really great!  classic Daryl!  excellent playing and great song.  I think the mix is a little dull sounding, tho, there's not enough high end and mid-highs, especially on the guitar and drums, not as much on the vox.  and that makes it sound "out of balance" too since the vox sound different from the instruments.

great work tho! 

I didn't hear it as a guitar, I heard it overall. But we all hear things differently.

I like this song... very cool vibe... tasty guitar, great tone... the snare does sound a bit muffled... very cool production Daryl...

Julibee.  I've only learnd to write lyrics in the past few years even though I've been writing music for close to 50 years.  I have some long time friends who are very good at it.  And I love good lyrics.  You understand metaphor and I always love it when just a few words can speak volumes.  Like Joni Mitchell, who can tell your life story in a 3 minute song.  Thank you.

Great guitar sounds – bell-like and soulful – just the right amount of dirt on the lead. Super playing as well – subtle. The guitars at 3:30 start coming through really nice (a bit more aggression) then disappear quickly – just a taste and gone. Sir, can I have another? Normally I would not say “I’d like to hear this…” or “I’d like to hear that..”. But I’ve gotten some feedback here that has certainly helped me out – sometimes I act on it sometimes I don’t. So here’s mine – great just the way it is – but if it was mine, I would add percussion – congas and shakers I’d also wash the vocals in a bit more reverb (ala Quicksilver Messenger Service – Fresh Air). Good stuff Daryl.

Thanks all for the feedback and so glad you liked the vibe and of course the guitar tone.  I've been decades finding my tone and during the past couple of years it seems to finally be where I can really feel good about.  "Aint no thang 'cept tone."

Manny - Thanks.  Do you know how strange it is for someone to be telling me to add congas?  That's what I always say and one of the few times I don't, someone suggests congas!  I will probably agree as I love congas and use them a lot but somehow I didn't on this one.  Go figure.  Thanks!

If bad days produce music this good, then I'm sorry, but let the bad days roll! That guitar solo is so sweet it really deserved another outing at the end of the piece - and I say that because I just didn't want this piece to end!

OK, you know I love your music. But the combination of sounds is pure magic. If you keep on writing and playing like this, I am going to run out of superlatives!

I can honestly say this is my favorite Daryl tune to date.  This was smooth and easy to listen to.  I really enjoyed it, buddy!!!

Thanks everyone.  It's been a busy week, work is insane and my 2nd daughter is graduating from college tomorrow, then we get to move her out and then a 250 mile drive home in time to do a service awards banquet for some of my employees.  Insanely busy week, but I hope to be able to do some remixing on this song this weekend per all the very consistent observations.  I sure wish my ears worked the way they should, so I truely thank all the ears here that help keep me from total mixing chaos.

Warren, Malcomb, Vicente - Your comments on the lyrics... I guess this tune is a lament to those days when nothing goes right... or sometimes it's a week....  I had no real direction when I started these lyrics, I only had the line "Right Between the Eyes"... So I just extrapolated from that.. which is how most all of my lyrics come to me, with a few exceptions.  I don't care what I write about as long as it's not a protest song or a mushy love song.  I like writing outside the normal subject matter.  But being outside the norm has really been the story of my life.

Per the suggestions here I have remixed the master EQ mids and increased the reverb on the background vocals and I have to agree. I can now here how the mids were cut.  Question is did I go enough?
