Right Click in Touch.

Hi
I use SPlat on a Dell XPS18, which is a large 18inch tablet for a few months. Its pretty close to what I have wanted for years, since I saw Trent Reznor playing a Miko live - a full computer instrument with no mouse.
So I have been been pretty keen to see how Sonars touch interface develops.
The on-screen keyboard has been a big advance. Great for noodling away. A tablet, a pair of good pair of bluetooth head phones, and I'm in tweak heaven. No wires. Total mobility.
Its close to perfect except for one little thing.

Can someone please explain what is the logic behind crippling the right click emulation in Windows multitouch?
It makes no sense at all.
Its pretty much completely contradicts every other other touch feature that has been developed into Sonar.
Worse, It actually means that other programs that haven't consciously developed touch features are actually now more capable in this regard. Its a bit nonsensical now Sonar is into its third or fourth iteration as a touch focused product.

I only hope that the thinking behind it is that it wont be implemented until its absolutely right. The bakers are just taking their time to get it perfect.
Can anyone tell me if thats the case?
Otherwise the intention must be that touch will always be intended to let you do some basic tasks but any editing must always use a mouse? Please no. That would be so short sighted.

Otherwise I use an applet called Touchmousepointer as a work around. It works but its such an ugly clumsy cludge.
Have other people found other methods around this?

Thanks
J

+1 surprised honestly that touch has seen so few advancements (so far). Maybe "F" will include some help. Will have to check out your workaround/add in.  I gave up on touch because of the limitations.

We're continuing to advance the cause and haven't forgotten about editing.
Time frame for it will be up to product management.  This is where the user surveys/etc. can come into play as a factor.

Press and hold is windows' convention for right click. I'd happily use something else but SONAR has no option for right click unkess you use a mouse, or a kludge solution like the OP found to fool sonar into thinking your touch screen is a mouse. The ridiculous part of this is that if sonar were not touch enabled/"enhanced" it would have these options by default as a windows application. touch works great -  outside of SONAR,
(i drank the Touch Kool-aid. Seems like part of a small minority of users did. LOL. I use notation too).

    Hi Kieth,
I always like to see input from one of the sources. Thanks Ill guess Ill keep hope alive.
Ive been thinking today about work arounds. One idea that popped up was the use of the old Studioware and CAL features. I have a vintage copy of Sonar 2SI somewhere that could be resuscitated to make a studioware panel with some of the commands I cant reach otherwise.
I still use Cal and studioware regularly to edit midi and reach my old hardware synths. Still really useful.  I have never rolled my own though.
Can any of those old timers who used CAL and Studioware tell me if they offered any ability to access the features beyond those that are in drop down window menus? Specifically showing a right click context menu?

    Cheers

On further research it looks like Duckbar would be the best work around. Ill head over to Sonarmods and wrap my head around how that works.

    Cheers
