River's Edge
I was asked by a local horse farm if I could do a piece of music for their equestrian web site. It's not exactly an SMB tune/style, but, James was kind enough to play along and humor me...so here it is..short and a bit repetitive, and different for us.. James: Electric guitar Me: The rest http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10713822 All comments/crits/listens are always welcome. Larry

Hey Larry and James, Well this is a nice one ...but I have a major Crit.....That BLOODY Tambourine...Could it not be shaken Instead of hit...It is the only thing that feels repetative to me. I love everything else in this choon...Also it feels like it is totally in it`s own space outside of the mix and to the left...I think with that much reflection from it it would cover the WHOLE field not just one side....OKAY I`m done now LOL...P.S.. I did say I really liked this right!!!!!!!!
Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea... for the devil sends the beast with wrath..... because he knows the time is short..... let him who hath understanding..... reckon the number of the beast..... for it is a human number... it`s number is..... 666 So if JESUS rose from the DEAD Does that mean he`s the ORIGINAL ZOMBIE?

Nice and smooth. I like the distance on the tambo. And the understated drums and percussion. Nice job on the bass. And the recording of the guitars was very nice. Overall I think the mix is what you were going for, a nice ambient track.

this is very different for SMB, but it's very cool in it's own way. I'll go out on a limb here and say that I like the hit on the tamborine instead of shaken or stirred! just difference in opinion is all. I really like the laid back acoustic and electric in this. the pad lays the foundation for the feeling of the song. thumbs up!

great ambience tune, laid back. The tambourine didnt stand out too much to be honest, it is setback nicely in the mix, maybe a reverby snare every second hit may help it,but not a crit from me. Cian

Let's see Gallagher make a single out of that one now ! I always get a relaxed Sunday afternoon vibe form SMB stuff, and although this is not a fully-fledged SMB tune, it's still in the mould and doesn't disappoint.

Alan - You noalikeada my banging?? I'll see if I can dig that out a little and rework. Thanks for listening and the helpful comments. Robby - Thanks man! I was picturing horses being ridden on a trail (something tame) Serene and ambient seemed to be the way to go for this. Reece - Glad the 'banging' worked for you! The mood/vibe is kinda 'syrupy', but it's for a backdrop. I haven't gotten the raised eyebrow from the owner yet tho....It was nice to hear James play a smooth, jazz sorta feel to this too. Thanks!!

Even when you don't try it sounds great. I hate that. I can see her hair blowing in the wind as she hangs on, arms around your waist, galloping in the setting sun across the pastoral rush hour streets of Hartford...... Larry, why were you 'resting' while James did the playing?

My lovely horse, running through the field. Where are you going, with your fetlocks blowing in the wind? I want to shower you with sugar lumps, and ride you over fences. Polish your hooves every single day, and bring you to the horse dentist. My lovely horse, you’re a pony no more. Running around with a man on your back, like a train in the night like a train in the night.. sweet.

Wonderful, man ! Simply wonderful and a bit off your beaten path. Lovely little tune which can get inside your head and make you want to just go for a ride, perhaps on Mc Guinn's Chestnut mare? I'm gonna catch that horse if I can ... Listening again... The synth patches are perfect! Well choosen and played. Really nice guitar, bass and drum sounds as well. Sounds like a clip of America doing a Wings song or perhaps visa-versa.

Love it! A very nice smooth jazz piece. I wish it would be longer than the 2:36. Most piece like that run at least 5 minutes in which they add all sort of improv and alternate solos.

Rik - Very nice comment! Thanks!! Rick - So..you've been thru Hartford during rush hour?? The appropriate scene would be me holding onto the horse with a death grip while my wife was shouting obscentities at me... As far as the 'rest' is concerned...I'm lazy. Thanks for listening. Dave - I don't mind the horses, but, I'm limlited to pony rides... SGB sounds good too!! Is there such a thing as a slow gallup?? We're glad that yer glad!!

I had just gotten Alchemy and was noodling around with the sounds and things kinda fell into place. Kev - Many thanks man!! Larry, it's not a poem, it's taken from a comedy programme here - http://www.youtube.com/wa...zYzVMcgWhg classic UK/Irish comedy about the lives of 3 priests on a remote Irish island, one being the eponymous Father Ted, whose schemes for money and success are always thwarted by the alcoholic Father Jack and the idiotic Father Dougal (a strange manchild...)

To be honest..don't really have any clients (especially the paying kind) and the place we did this for still hasn't responded to me, but it still was fun to make! Mark - Well..stoopid me!! They do run that Father Ted sitcom over in the States on one of the PBS stations from time to time. And here I thought you were getting all teary-eyed 'n such.
