this is one of my new songs that will appear on my next album....
not final mix, just getting close to what i want.

i'll go thru an extensive "EQ" session, maybe tweak the mix a bit,
still playing with room treatments and FX........

just looking for some basic replies about anything that is a bone in the throat.

Love it! It's got a very cool Steely Dan kind of feel. Great as-is...just be sure to keep those dynamics, don't let them get lost in the final master.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Hey bat,
I am at work playing this back really really soft on my PC speakers and I can hear all the instruments - bass included really well. I can't wait to crank this up in my studio but I do know when you can play back a song like this super softly and it holds up, you are doing alot of things right.
Like the ending break as well. Guitars are awesome.

Just the way it should be done. Not to many tweaks or you will loose what you have, so do that with loving tenderness. Sounds really nice Gonzo and the song takes you places. Very nicely done on all instrumentation and vocals.

thanks for checking this out, bitflipper!
it's a lot of time and energy invested, a lot of personal trips and stuff...
    but mostly, it's been fun,
as i've been trying out lots of 'engineering geek' stuff,
and then going back and wiping the slate clean,
and doing a lot of 'faders up' kind of mixes.
    a good learning experience.

this is only very slightly mastered,
has a dynamic range of about 14,
and i'm really on the fence about leaving the entire thing closer to the truth,
or really just barely kissing it with some mastering.

i'll live with it for a while, and see what happens...
    thanks again!

    thank you john,
    for listening and commenting.

i may have to NOT master this album,
if the mix is good enough as is.
