That's actually a sweet story. I hope he wakes up soon. That family have been through enough tragedy. And yes, they aren't THAT old!

Yes, I heard that this morning James, thanks for the link. The Bee Gees, in some ways, like Kate Bush. had a critical re-evaluation of them many years ago. There was a period when they were ridiculed and parodied, then time passed and their true originality and talent became evident to most. I wish Robin Gibb and his family all the best over the coming weeks. This may simply be a delaying of the inevitable, or the start of a recovery. Who knows, and it's not our business anyway, as long as quality of life is there and no suffering is taking place, it's all good.

Same here - heard the good news on the TV this morning that he has come out of the coma, Great news indeed, I certainly hope for more and if it's even enough time to say goodbye to his loved ones and it is just a respite on an inevitable outcome, it's still nice to hear.

I started a joke, Massachusetts, I gotta get a message to you..... Music like this>>> http://www.youtube.com/wa...TA&feature=related This was the kind of music that formed the musical foundation in my life. the groove, the melody, the harmonies.... I really liked the early Bee Gees. Later as they were corrupted by disco I didn't like their music near as much. Although they did make a serious fortune playing and singing it. As a family, they have suffered much tragedy.

If I were unconscious and Barry Gibb started singing "ah ah ah ah stayin' alive, stayin' alive" I think it might be enough to bring me around, just so I could run screaming from the hospital room. Just kidding. I am a fan of the Bee Gees (just not the disco stuff). Check out their concert video from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, in which they reprise the bulk of their very long career. Played back-to-back it's quite an astounding resume.

as long as quality of life is there and no suffering is taking place I wonder... does that mean I should just die? J/K/...sort of. Almost time for my meds. I didn't care for the Bee Gees back in the 70s but like many other things, I have come to appreciate their genius. They did some incredible things and under the gun too IIRC. Best wishes to the Gibb family, life is hard but it is life. J

Despite their massive success it makes you realise that they were still hugely under-rated by many. Let's hope he pulls through - about time their luck changed.

Bitflipper mention the live concert at the MGM. I watched that concert video a few years back and it made me a belated BeeGees fan by the time the video ended. Granted, I have liked many of their songs over the years and respected them. I just did not realize how good they actually were, and how entertaining and reminiscing it was to hear hit-after-hit. They really do have an amazing repertoire.
