Robocop: Armed drones coming to your neighborhood
A company in Texas has developed a 7-foot semi-autonomous mini UAV for domestic use. It can carry tasers, shotguns and rocket launchers. This is not some defense contractor's pipe dream; the Office of Homeland Security is actually buying them for at least one county sheriff. They can fly at 70mph and zap you with a taser from 100' up in the air. Creepy as this is, I'd kinda like to have one.

Last time I did a training video for a bomb squad robot the team had 3 months to prepare for the staged training event. When the squad arrived with the robot... it became apparent that no one had charged the batteries.
After about an hour of waiting for back up... I suggested Auto Zone.
Eventually someone found a car with the same form factor battery and we borrowed it so we could get some video of the robot working.
The idea of letting the sheriff's deputies play with drones that can deliver *lethality* just seems to ignore the obvious.

This is what is needed to engender some manners back into the youth of today.
Some cold hard discipline is long overdue.
I hope these airborne tasers are used with impunity on the tearaways.

Those drones are here, right now. They are being used to monitor traffic across the U.S. Mexico border and sniff out grow ops. Very high tech., with optical, IR imaging, laser ranging and target designation.
