But when i play the vocals back on any track that i just recorded i get this robotic type voice like a very bad robotic imitation of my voice. how do i fix that problem. Sounds like a sampling issue, what sound card and what sample rate is the program set to use?

Well i am using the default sound card that came with the computer. the thing is when i record in another program (adobe audition...formerly syntryllium cool edit) a the same default sample rate 44100Hz 16 bit its absolutely perfect. so i dont knw why in MC its sounding distorted like a robotic effect. what do you think?

what else is in your project? does it do this if you start a new project without anything else in any other track? if you open the tutorial #5, does the music sound right?

Actually when i tried using a midi track the same thing happened but after spending 3 hours working on it i finally solved the problem. it was my driver mode that was giving me that ugly feedback. i tried lowering the sample rate first but that only worked a little bit. then i took a chance and changed the driver mode in OPTIONS>>AUDIO>>ADVANCED IT WORKED OUT PERFECTLY. NOW EVERYTHING IS CRYSTAL CLEAR. I CHANGED MY DRIVER MODE FROM (WDM/KS to ASIO) i have no idea what the abbreviations mean but hey it works. any advice in case tha ever happens again and by the way do u guys understand what i did to get rid of the problem and now you know what the solution is how do u think i ended up with that problem in the first place?

I, personally have never heard of that particular problem being caused by WDM driver mode. In fact, typically if you are having problems you would get advice to "go down" the driver list instead of UP. ASIO is the best driver mode, but it doesn't work with all sound card/software combos. WDM is the next best and MME is the least good.

I never use input monitoring, as it seems to always cause problems. i firmly believe one needs some sort of mixer or interface outside the computer to monitor the mix at the same time as the recording being made. This is done best with an outside mixer, attaching eh speakers and the headphones to it instead of the sound card. For pure economy i like the behinger 802

Benson, if you're satisfied with your vocal, but it's not in perfect time, you can click on the vocal track and drag the whole thing over to the right time. Greg

AHAHAHA hey robomusic funny u mentioned a mixer. i have that exact mixer sfitting on top of my computer. funny thing is i can never get the mic to intput any power for recording. ok let me tell you how i have it sett up correct me if i am wrong. i have an rca cable running from the tape in...to my sound card. and a cheap radio shack microphone with a 1/4 inch jack plugged into the first mic/line in. now when i record on the computer the levels are soooo low even if i turn the mixers volume on full i still cant get anywhere close to the yellow on the volume meters. so let me know how i csan hook it up to record through the mixer. i am desperate lol. but i am patient.

what model number of the "cheap radio shack mic" is it? if this is a condenser mic, then you need to plug it into the mic jack and turn on the "phantom power". Otherwise you'll never get volume out of the mic.

If it was a condenser mike it would not have a 1/4" plug, so that tells me dynamic mike. here is how i attach it, line out from the sound card to tape in on the mixer, main out on the mixer to line in on the sound card, depress the to the mix button. headphones to the headphone jack and speakers to the control room jack. if the signal is not hiting the yellow that is good. make sure that the volume and playback faders are up on the sound cards applet window. and also remember that volume for the track can be achieved at mastering.
