Rock Song - How's the Mix?

Hey guys.  Looking for some feedback on this mix. I've been having a bit of trouble getting this to sound right so any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey, sounds good to me,the only thing that really jumped out at me was during the quiter parts the snare came too far forward over the vocal. Other than that, thumbs up!

Thanks for the feedback Kev.  Do you think the drums are too loud overall, or just the snare during the quiet parts?  i kind of get the impression the kick is too up front, but I'm not sure.

The song is cool, and it left me wanting more.  As for the drums, that's a matter of opinion, but nowhere did they drown out the lead vocal.  One word of advice, I generally avoid songs that download to my computer and prefer songs that stream live.  I know many people here feel the same way, so if you want to get more hits, you may consider Soundcloud or Soundclick to share your songs with.

    All the best,

Lynn, clicking on the play icon in that thread should allow you to stream the song. I also prefer Soundcloud though.

I do think a lot of the comments I have read on your mix at the other forum are subjective. I didn't think the drums were overloud. The vocal was heard loud and clear. The thing is that if you put the vocal too loud then it may drown other things out...as I said subjective. You could go either way on this mix and it would still sound nice IMO.
Did you put this together in X2?

Hey guys thanks for the comments.

Lynn, Gearslutz should allow you to stream the song right from the post.  Sorry that you had to download it.  Thanks for listening though!

Starise, I also think many of the suggestions are subjective.  I know what you mean when the vocals are too loud - it really takes away from the impact of the music.  No, I didn't put this together in X2.  I haven't upgraded.  I put this together in 8.5.

It sounds modern and I dont have a problem with voice vs drums.

To me, its just the snare being a touch forward during the verse. But now that I take closer listen to the kick, sounds a little muffeled and sorta missing that beater head slap. little boost around 700-800Hz might help.
Still a good mix. Good job.
