Only listening on lappy, but this sounds great all the same - really liked it. Bearing in mind the obvious listening limitiations, the vox could maybe come up a bit and the keys are possibly a smidge too prominent in places, but that could be just personal taste too. Love the sax sound in particular - absolutely spot on for me. I can see me listening to this quite a lot.

    Sounds really good G.

Ya, mebee Vox could come up by 1db, but not critical.

Methinks the organ and piano are perfect.

Can you bring that solo up by 2db pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze?

Great mix all in all though.

Well, that's quite a Rogue's Gallery Grant :-) And live drums too! :-) You gotta love that man. Hey, if you need the bass redone? Let me know ;-) LOL! I'm going to try to get the notebook fixed next week so I can listen properly in the cans.  I agree with the bass players comments above. Good job :-)

    Grant,

Sounds pretty good to me.  Maybe a hair bright but outstanding nonetheless.   The peformances are all very good, really like the sound of the keys.  A little Deep Purple'ish in spots.   Sax fits really well in the mix as well.   Good song, really enjoyed it.

Thanks Mark, there is an effect I'm using that may be causing it to a bit brighter than planned , I'll be taming that down in the final thanks.

Awesome players and playing.  Really like your voice on this. Organ sound is tremendously dirty!

Mix sounds a bit scooped in the mids.

Wooooot!!! This is a good one guys. Having Dave on the B3 is always a plus, and he just kills it on this. Nice work on vocals Grant. They are a little bright in spots, but really performed well.

(with guidance and support from Danny Danzi who heard at least 10-15 mixes of this and helped me for nearly 2 months) I'm sure you forgot....everyone does...hence why I have a bad name for charging people for stuff. Then they never forget. LOL! :) Just kiddin'! :-Þ

This is quite good Grant. Much improved and 100% better than anything I've heard from you. My only two issues with this mix are the crash cymbals that hit smack in the middle of the pan field that seem too loud to me. Ride cymbal hits in the center too, but it's not too loud.

Your voice has a bit of an am radio type sound to it. Sort of lo-fi and could use some thickening up. But everything else sounds really good on this. Kick drum could have a bit more low end thud to it...sounds a bit clicky to me. But other than the above, this really turned out great brother. Nice job to all involved. :)

Big thanks Mark, James, Reece, Janet, Randy and Danny. Glad you enjoyed.

I will work on the vox buss and get that brightness tamed down a bit Randy and Danny, I know the cause.

James I'll have a look at the mids and see if I can tame the organ down some

Sorry for forgetting to mention you brother Danny, your guidance and that great video you sent on how to set up the separate drum tracks has made a big difference in the workflow here. Thanks for everything bro. I have the cymbals at about 8% right and left, I will pan them a bit more and tame the volume on those thanks.

Also forgot to give thanks to Michael (Spacey) from the CH forum, all rhythm guitars were played on a hand made Tele made by Michael.

Thanks again everyone, busy work week this week might delay a remix until the end of the week.

I commented on this earlier but it didn't take... I've been having problems with this forum ever since my last Windows 7 IE upgrade... $#@*... rant over...

I love this song... wonderful performances... the guitar work is really fine, as is the vocal... did I perceive a bit of vox pitch correction?
    excellent work by all...

I think it depends on what volume you listen to this song with. Louder seems better, but (and there is always a but I guess) the snare drum did not move me, too dull, and the organ up high was a bit too raspy for me. Other than what was mentioned with the vox (which again to me dependent on volume - up higher it came out better) that about it. A bit on the bright side to me. Not that it sounded bad, but perhaps a bit of tweaking may be needed only according to me. Fine work though to all.

Really cool tune.  The vocal and instrumental performances are terrific.  On my system the mix is well balanced, yet it lacks some drive and punch.  I hear it but I don't feel it.  That's all, though.  Tremendous effort.

Great piece.  I like that the song doesn't feel so cookie-cutter.  It reminds me of a cross between Uriah Heep and Duran Duran.  Is that even possible?

Big thanks everyone.  Sorry so busy this week,  I'll be back for more personal thanks and some reviews this weekend. Remix is up.  Work done on Kick and snare. Tamed the overheads and panned them.

Thanks Randy for the B3 reference. I researched that and worked on Dave's tone.

Much more done to it.  Thanks again!

This is really good guys!! Love the chord progression. Tasty playing by all and Ed's bass tone/playing is nice and up front. Nice to hear the classic organ sound too. Well sung Grant!

Soon as this song started it had my head swaying back 'n forth. Nice punch and drive that moves it all along! It all sounded good on my system as is.
