Rocky Top Tennessee
Here's a fresh new take on an old song. It's a collaboration with a former co-worker. He did the backing instruments and percussion, he and his 10-year old daughter did the vocals and I supplied the fiddle tracks and train whistle and then I mixed it. Have fun with it! https://soundcloud.com/stringjammer-1/rocky-top/s-o6hDN

Yup... that's different. Some might call it blasphemy..... We used to play that song in a 3 piece band....and our version could also be referred to by the purists as blasphemy....

Hey, Scotty, It's always great to hear your amazing fiddle work, and it stills sounds absolutely dynamite on this very cool modernized classic! Your friend and his daughter did an excellent job on all their parts, and it just goes to show that thinking out of the box can create something really fresh sounding and unique. Really good stuff! Always nice to hear your fiddling's Scott, sounds like you had fun recording this tune which unsurprisingly I am not familiar with. Could we have a little more fiddle on the solo, for me the lead vocal sounds like it could do with a little more space around it. Thanks for sharing.

Enjoyed hearing this one Scotty, great playing as always and the mix sounds perfect to me. For some reason I keep thinking that if there was a movie being made about something to do in Tennessee that this would be the perfect opening song to start the movie with. Very creative.

Being that I am from East Tennessee and a University of Tennessee alumnus...this is a sacred song! BUT...this isn't a BAD version, I guess! LOL Great job, Scotty! this is quite different from our "fight song" but it's a cool version! very well mixed - great fiddlin' as usual!

I really like your "re-do" of this song. Y'all must have had a lot of fun doing this. Every one did an excellent job (especially the 10 year old), and of course your playing was excellent. A pure pleasure to listen to.

Hi Bob-O! Thank you very much! It was a new and fun adventure for me. Dave and his daughter were great. She used it for a school project. Thanks for listening and have a great rest of the week!

Thanks Wook!!! Mix is final. It was just for the kid's school project so we said close enough!

Yeah, that was pretty cool. Fiddle sounds great, not surprisingly, just loved some of those lines. But everything sounds good... really liked the lead vocals, got some genuine southern blues happening. Is that a normal ending though? It seemed fairly avant garde.

Thanks Steve! The vocals are pretty cool for sure. Dave (vocalist) caw up with that ending. I didn't think it fit at first but the more ilia tended to it the better I liked it.
