Rogue Envelope extends past end of song
I have a rogue envelope that extends past the end of the song. It will not split or stop at the end of the song either. So after the song is done, it goes on playing until I press stop. It has valid node points and works as desired. It just goes beyond the end of the song. There are no other events in the event view, nor were there ever any events past measure 60. Anyone run into this? If so, how do you remedy the situation?

The one time my project was playing past the end of the project was caused by data in hidden tracks I had forgot I had hid. MAke sure there are no hidden tracks in your project. If there are, there may be data in them that extends beyond the data in the displayed tracks. If that's not the cause, it is probably related to the envelope, but I can't quite understand the situation from your description. If there's is solid line automation beyond what you consider to be the end of the song, SONAR treats that as real data that it has to render. I would add a node just beyond the end of the project, select any and all automation between the new node and the last node, and delete it.

You could select a region that is the same sixe as all the other tracks and copy that portion of the track and automation. Clone the track without the events but with track properties and effects. Paste the copied data and then delete the oddball track. I have found that sometimes tracks become corrupted within a project. I have seen a rogue envelope as well as track properties that wont change despite the indication that they have changed. For example I have on old project right now that will not pan some of the tracks unless I clone the track. The cloned track works just fine and the problem never happens again. Go figure. wm.

If there's is solid line automation beyond what you consider to be the end of the song, SONAR treats that as real data that it has to render. No, it is a dotted/broken line that goes to infinity. I have actually entered measure 999 and the line was still there. There are no hidden tracks or data beyond measure 60. I would rather figure this out than C&P the data to another track. The envelop needs to do what it is doing and I don't want to have to remix it. I think this is a bug of some sorts.

I believe SONAR will continue to play projects beyond the end of the data if it includes any data-generating plugin, such as Session Drummer. Could your project be using a plugin that generates data? EDIT: BTW, all envelopes extend to infinty initially. In fact, they still extend to infinity after the last node. But as long as it's a dotted line, SONAR takes that to mean you did not put any explicit automation there, and should stop as soon as the last node is rendered.

Hey Conley, It doesn't seem like this is the cause of your problem, but it's happened to me so I'll mention it just in case. I think the dotted line going on for ever is normal ... I get that all the time, after the last node. But when the song goes on beyond its intended end and carries on playiing thru the dotted line area, I've found two possible causes: 1. Another envelope somewhere (on this or some other track) with a node further along (remember envelopes can be hidden - I'd check I hadn't donew this) 2. Some audio or midi clip perhaps on another track somewhere in thed istant future. But if you have hit ona genuine bug, why not try biouncing to track and seeing if that fixes it? Cheers

Some audio or midi clip perhaps on another track somewhere in thed istant future. This is the culprit. I just found it. I have a midi drum track that is causing playback even though there are no events past the last measure..

I have a midi drum track that is causing playback even though there are no events past the last measure.. Clip mutes on midi clips will cause infinite playback. Probably a problem with the virtual envelope.

Conley I'm getting the same thing.. I'll have to look and see if there's a Midi track elsewhere.. It is strange and a "first time" for me.

I only have 4 audio tracks. Song ends in 3.00 minutes. No more data that I can see, but it plays forever.......

Brad - Have you checked Event List view, and then made sure that all options are selected under Event Manager to make sure there's nothing else going on that you can't see? Cheers

all options are selected under Event Manager Yep, all are checked I can't really make much of this but there doesn't seem to be anything that tells me wy the song keeps playing (the now marker keeps going but there isnt any visible events past measure 93) Any suggestions?

Are you using any MIDI plugins in your project? Some of them can generate data, and because SONAR has no way of knowing if they are still generating notes or not, it just keeps playing past the end of your data. Session Drummer, Virtual Guitarist, RnC (I think) and many others are like this.

Well just for the fun of it, I just deleted all the tracks in the project and all the plug-in effects in the effects bin. This project must have a mind of it's own. It'll just keep playing now. Endlessly. This is very strange.

If you post your project somewhere, I'd be happy to have a look at it. You have my curiousity up.
