Roland Edirol pcr-500 with Oberheim Matrix 1000 compatibility?

Hello out there! I'm new to this forum and just bought a pcr-500 online and haven't received it yet. I was curious if anyone has had compatibility issues with any older rackmount synth modules? I have an oberheim matrix 1000. I was hoping I might be able to simultaneously control both the oberheim AND softsynths with the Edirol-500? I would imagine that is possible but haven't specifically run across any mention of doing that. And if I can, could anyone break down a summary of what I would have to do to accomplish this? I'm learning but still pretty MIDI-****ed. Any info would kick ass! Thanks!!
