Roland Fantom XR rack synth.... Should I?

A local music store had one traded in, and I can pick it up for $429 CDN + tax... Seems like a good value, and I'm not sure what other comparable since is out there right now, that I could get for a similar price... I'm going to try it for 30 days and see what I think.... I just want a hardware synth that I can take with me and my Edirol PCRM80 controller, and not have to rely on software synths (i.e. bring my laptop to a gig, etc...)

What to do, what to do...

If it's in good shape... that's an excellent deal.
Sonic Cell is also very similar...

I'm going to pick it up tomorrow... I asked my buddy (works at the store) why he's selling it so cheap, and he said it's due to the price the original seller asked for when he traded it in... The store doesn't mark stuff up a huge amount compared to the trade-in amount... Good deal for me tho. The street price at most stores online is $1395 USD new... (I paid $429 CDN used... which is about $354 USD!) :)

    Nobody tell my wife!

But seriously, I sold my Roland FP-3, and my Korg Triton a while back... So I don't have any hardware synths and I kinda missed that. Especially if I have to go play somewhere in a pinch and don't want to drag along my laptop... Really looking forward to getting some of the expansion cards later on... And also, loading samples into this to use live. I think I might load some of the intro's for the album I just produced (cool FX, n' stuff) to use when we play the same songs live. Otherwise, the band wouldn't be able to re-produce it in a live setting (without the keyboard and sampler)...

    Yippeeee!

Picked it up today. Perfect condition, original box/packaging and the software was still shrinkwrapped... Sounds so good too...

I'm a lucky guy to have stumbled upon that deal...

    Yeeeeehaw!

Just saw this post.  We have the same unit and don't know what we'd do with out it.  We got the COMPLETE PIANO expansion card and WOW.

What a price!  We paid just under $900 for ours.
