Roland GI-10 - work with GK-3?
Hi all. Roland's current MIDI pickup for guitar is the GK-3. Does anybody out there know if it will work with a GI-10 converter, which is a bit older? Thanx!

Yes...it will work with all Roland's 10 pin I/O's, GI-10,20, GR series, VG series, etc. BTW, I have the the GK pickup, but the RMC pickups work better than the Roland GK pickups, they just track better and faster and work with all the Roland 10 pin I/O's.

Thanks for the info... I already have a GK-3, hence my question - I wanted to know how wide my options were in terms of converters. Is the GI-20 quite a bit superior to the GI-10 in terms of latency etc?

You might try calling Roland customer service (Guitar/Percussion Products: 323-890-3743). It's a toll call, but I didn't have a long wait when I called them, and they were very helpful.

Heh... well, of course, it's in the best interests of the company to say that their current product is FAR superior to the old one, for obvious reasons. I'd kinda prefer to hear users' opinions.

Actually, that wasn't the case with me, although I was asking about different products. As for the GI-20 vs. the GI-10, you can find GI-20 user reviews at Harmony Central (http://www.harmony-central.com/Effects/Data/Roland/GI_20-1.html) and some GI-10 info at the Synth Zone (http://www.synthzone.com/roland.htm). I'd try to find out whether the GI-20 is USB 1.1 or USB 2.

Hey metaprog, I use a GI-20 via USB.I'm getting 2.9 msec latency with my set up.(see my sig).Provided the project doesn't get overly complex.I like it,and it seems depndable so far.I'm using a Brian moore with it,so I can't help with the GK-3 question. Frank

Thanks, Phoenix and 8ftsq. I'm interested in seeing a comparison between the current converters - Axon, Roland, Yamaha, Shadow (which people have been saying is dead but it aint true - I was just in contact with the company and they said they're still making the SH-075). Maybe I'll start a new thread.
