Roland GrooveSynth (and TTS-1) sounds not right [SOLVED] - work only at 44.1/48k sam.rate

First time trying out the Roland GrooveSynth (via insert soft synth)


Edit : I also found TTS-1 behave the same.
Every patch I loaded sounds like distorted industrial sound effect.

For example, clicking on the 'green' patch name display brings up patch selection, and I select a flute sound from the flute group.. and the sound that came out doesn't sound anything like flute.

I'm running X1b 255, 64bit. I've been trying out Dimension Pro, SI-Electric piano, SI-String.. all seems fine.

    I've had this happen before... in Sonar 8... 

    If I remember correctly it had to do with routing and properties.

    I left the TTS-1 view.  I went into "midi track properties" on the midi track.  Assigned midi out to 1 of the 16 channels on the TTS-1 then I chose a bank from general midi sound and it played properly. 

    The process was more involved than simply inserting a VST and clicking on the VST's properties. 

    The TTS-1 accepts signal and bank assignments from the tracks that they r being routed from.

    right.  don't change the patch from the GUI, change it from the MIDI track properties or whatever is in the midi track properties when you hit play on the transport will override whatever you've set the GUI to.

    After some trial and error, I found that the problem occurs due to my sampling rate at 96k.

    Setting it to 44.1k solves the problem, and both TTS-1 and GrooveSynth sounded clear.

    However, upon checking the TTS-1 help file, it mentioned support for sampling at 44.1k, 48k and 96k. But at 96k, it doesn't work for me.

    Just wondering at what sampling rate do you normally work at ? ..and if you need to record audio at 96k, but using soft synth sets a limit that.

    TTS-1 does not work at 88.2 or 96k, IIRC, even tho the help files say it does.  this is an issue that has been known for a long time and I doubt will ever get fixed.

    I work at 48... it's overkill since I know I'm not creating DVD quality... I'm shooting for CD quality... local bands, demo's and the like.

    TTS-1 works like a charm at 96k, but not 88.2k.

    1. Open TTS-1.
    2. Click 'System'.
    3. Click 'Options'.
    4. Click the 'Options' tab.
    5. Enable 'Light Load Mode'.

    Works like a charm. :)

    Normally I use 44.1 / 48, that's the max my Alesis Multimix 16 firewire can go. 

    Recently I was trying out a Phonic Firefly 302 (firewire), less audio channel (2 line, 1 mic), but the driver is better and I can get quite low latency and handles soft synth well. 

    I'm trying out 96, which was no possible (for me) previously, to get even lower latency.
