Roland M-48: Live Personal Mixer

Can the "Roland M-48: Live Personal Mixer" be used with the "Roland SONAR V-Studio 700 REAC Edition" WITHOUT a V-Mixer Digital Console (ex: M-400, M-380, M-480).  If so, can anyone post or provide a link to instructions, a diagram and list of required components?
