I have the Octa-Capture which probably has very similair drivers, or the same. It has been great experience using this product.

I have the Quad-Capture. Just arrived, so I haven't had a lot of time to test it, but I'll give my verdict. So far it's up and running well with X1 (c that is), even at 192kHz. The sound quality is very good, tested with a high-end Rode microphone. With some tweaking and at the fastest setting I've managed a 6.7 ms roundtrip time, but who knows how fast it can really go? The auto-sens feature is really as good as they say, and their mono monitoring button may prove quite useful. I haven't tried the MIDI yet but based on other Roland products I don't see why it wouldn't be top notch. Naturally compatibility fits like a glove. One or two things you should know, though. Plugging the headphones in doesn't stop playback from the speakers, strangely, although some would call that a good feature, and I might agree. Also, I would definitely call this a plug-and-play device since it was so easy to install, but I did run into a couple of error messages that I never figured out. Fortunately it went away when I restarted Sonar and it's been fine ever since. All things considered, if you want an audio interface that isn't too large or expensive, I can't see why you wouldn't seriously consider this one, especially if you are a Sonar user.

On the Octa-Capture, there is a button to mute the speakers and just use the headphones. Does not Quad not have that?

LHousehold thought you said the latency was a problem?

LHousehold, does the 192khz mode limit the device in any way? I know of other USB-devices that for example cant record and playback at the same time at such a high samplerate. I would like to hear more about latency. At what samplerate did you get 6ms 192khz? /M

I was using a Quad-Capture recently without incident at 48 samples/1.1ms. IMO, it's really a solid device (same in many ways to Octa-Capture) with great, low latency, drivers.

@Guitarpima, it doesn't have that button, unfortunately, and I wish it did but I guess for the low price that's an acceptable loss. @batsbrew, yes, I did, but after posting I promptly fixed the problem and now it's fast as lightning. I edited the post, but I guess I should have mentioned that. Sorry for the confusion. @metz, it was at 192kHz, and also 24-bit. Incidentally I actually didn't try other sample rates since I fixed my latency issue (of my own fault), so with what Brandon said, it's even faster than I thought! I have to say, I'm impressed. At 192kHz there is one limitation, and it's that I believe you can only use the 1 / 2 outputs (1/4 inchers); no coaxial. That's not a bad trade off, I'd say. You can use both input and output simultaneously at that rate. You can check the online manual at the roland website for more details.

Hello! Sorry for the old thread reopened but, I am at the first home recording experience and I was convinced to buy an Alesis io2express which I find terrible (usb noise especially). I would like to know from you, especially because I also have a Dell Inspiron notebook and W7 64bit: is there any kind of noise in this device? I will use it mostly with acoustic bass and dynamic mic. Maybe later another better mic for sampling. I was also looking for the Scarlett 2i2 but no midi and I have a midi keyboard. mmm, ok, thanks for the feedback!
