Roland UA 25 EX - Sonar 8.5 LE Driver Problem !!!

Hi guys.  I've searched information about my problem million times and couldn't find any solutions yet. Even in Cakewalk, Roland forums.

I have a laptop which has strong hardware enough for home recording I guess.

( ASUS N61JA-JX114V if necessary )

Core i5 430M 2.26 Ghz processor ( 2.53 Ghz Turbo Boost with Hyper-Thread )
4 GB DDR3 1066 Mhz Ram
320 GB 7200 RPM HDD ( 210 GB Empty Space )
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

I just bought Roland UA-25 EX and Roland A-300 PRO MIDI Keyboard.   I registered one of the Sonar Le's coming with my new equipments. And connected my MIDI device as well. I can use it w/o any problem.

I can use Sonar with MME-32 Bit Driver without any problem even in 10ms latency @ 44.1 Khz / 16-Bit.

Here we go ;
When I try to use ASIO driver, problems make me crazy.

I've tried lots of combinations on ASIO..    If you want to record 48 Khz / 24-bit , you have to switch the Advanced driver on and switch the KHz to 48.  After doing this, I turn of the sound card and turn it on again. I'm talking about the Native ASIO Driver of UA 25 Ex. I tried several different positions in ASIO Settings of UA 25 EX but nothing solved my problem.  It is impossible to playback/record without any popping/clipping in 24/48 even in 24/44.1 Khz or 48/ 16-bit..   I don't know I tried everything I can. I guess..

Then I tried with ASIO4ALL..   The problem becomes bigger.. More Clipping / More Popping.  You don't need to take a record to notice it. Even you play some VSTi to practice before recording, you can notice it. Because in every second it pops or clips. ASIO4ALL was a disastrous experience for me.

There's only one way to use Sonar 8.5 Le with this hardware for me ;

MME-32 Bit Driver  16-Bit/44.1 Khz settings  10 or 20 Ms Latency and Direct Monitor open on the hardware ( If Direct Monitor is closed the latency is a little noticeable. )

Please someone help me, I paid 225 Euro to this equipment and using it w/o ASIO makes me crazy. I'm spending hours to solve technical issues and wasting my creativity , losing my passion....

    I have a ua25ex and window 7 64 bit desktop with sonar PE8.5. They work flawlessly. Especially after I had deleted all the windows update!. I am not sure this will help you but you can try. Another possibility is that you might want to go to sonar's option- audio's general tab and click asio panel. There you can try different latency setting, probably a latter setting, which gives you more stability. Hopes that help.

    BTW I had also tried to use ASIO4all in order to combine my UA25ex and M-audio audiophile 2496. The result is horrible!

    I have tried 768 Sampling @ ASIO4ALL Latency Settings.   The standard option is 512 sampling, which makes popping/clipping.      With 768 , I could use it w/o any pop or clip.  But it causes more latency.

    Shouldn't be ASIO more effective than MME-32 Bit ?  I open the Direct Monitoring from UA-25 Ex to solve latency while playing.

    What if I try to take a serious record , using more than one VSTi, how would the ASIO handle latency then ?

    I use the UA-25 EX with Sonar LE and it works fine in ASIO mode. Didn't work in MME-32 mode. Cakewalk has put a video about how to set up Sonar. You can find it under the "Getting Started" tread.

    MME-32 definitely does not work on my Sonar 8.5 LE/Windows 7/UA-25 EX setup--I spent two hours last week figuring out I need to change the driver to ASIO.  However, with ASIO, I can't select the Stereo Mix as input to record from MIDI to audio.  I disconnected the UA-25 EX, tried on computer itself w/MME, and I can record internally w/Stereo Mix.  Does anyone know how I can get it to record internally w/the UA-25 EX connected and ASIO drivers?

    I also getting clicking and pops while attempting to record that aren't there during simple playback.  My next attempt will be to increase the buffer size on the device (since that's what pops up on the ASIO settings in Sonar), but since my computer has been loading and unloading a lot of EWQLSO Gold samples, I'm going to restart first, just for the fun of it. :-)  But if anyone knows anything else that might help (I've already tried playing with the computer power settings and performance settings like the UA-25 EX manual suggests, and it doesn't help), I'd be grateful!

    Thanks!

    Ah, found out how to stop the clicks/pops on recording!  Disable Read/Write Caching, something I'd turned on last week when trying to fix a different problem (didn't solve it, but didn't think to turn it off).

    Still don't know how to record internally with my UA-25 EX, though...:-(

    2 ways normally, either freeze the synth.. or use the bounce function ..

    maybe not the same for you version of sonar, but have a look at see if it's on there.
