Roland XV5050 64 bit driver
Not strictly aSonar question, but I've been trying - without success of course - find a 64 bit driver for my XV5050 outboard box. It has a USB port and I'd like to try a software Editor, but nothing talks to it without a 64 bit driver.
Have scoured the internet and it seems Roland never wrote one.
Any ideas/links would be appreciated.

All you need is a USB MIDI port. I have an XV5080 that I have never used the USB of it to connect. I use a USB MIDI port for all my MIDI hardware.

Hi John...
Thanks for that. The XV5050 is already hooked up using midi via X3 and the Midi Express - but only transmitting to it of course. I guess it also needs a midi out of the XV5050 through the midi Express into the PC to complete a communications link back to the software editor.
As it will need to use the same midi port I also guess the editor must somehow handle "midi-merge" of the Editor control data with the midi note data from my keyboard??

Is there some reason you cannot transmit and receive midi using the midi ports available on the back of this device? You would need to have a midi cable to connect midi out from module > midi In on your computer, and another midi cable to connect midi In of the module from midi Out/Thru from the computer.

Your keyboard should know how to differentiate between types of incoming midi data, so I am confused by your above comment - please explain,

You need bi communication as most of the programming is via sysex which requires an "ack" from the machine for both send and receive.
I have programmed my own JV1080 this way since its purchase way back last century.

Hi Bob...thanks for the input although I couldn't make the link work.
I'm pretty sure the midi I/O to/from the XV5050 is OK as I can see bothway midi activity on the MOTU express LEDs.
Anyway to answer you question. If the editor and my keyboard are both transmitting midi data (albeit different data) using the same port and channel, presumably the editor data must merge with the keyboard data even thougbit is unlikely that they are being transmitted at the same time?
