Roland says drivers for V Studio: yes to 100 (under testing) and NO to 700.

Why would they redo the 100 but not the 700 or 20?

Looks like the only way will be to do the modifications listed on the forums.

I love my 100 and Octa Capture but will not buy any more Roland gear.

Win 10 Pro x64, 32Gb DDR3 ram, Sonar Platinum, Cubase 9.5, Mackie MCU Pro, Cakewalk VS 100, Roland Octa-Capture,  A 800 Pro, Carver M-1.5t amp & C4000 pre amp, various mics, drums and brass instruments.

And away we go!

Yeah, they blew it with me ages ago, to be honest.

Roland says the V-Studio is compatible with Windows 8.1. I suspect the "no" means "not supported," not "won't work" but maybe Windows 10 is sufficiently different from 8.1 that the 8.1 drivers won't work...

Considering how many of us have gotten the 8.1 drivers to work, the only excuse would be that it doesn't work on it's own because they refuse to add a couple lines.

The 8.1 drivers work, if you hack them a bit. I've got my V Studio 700 running perfectly under Windows 10 Pro 64, thanks to folks on this forum. It wasn't all that hard to do, once we knew what to do.

But I'm not comfortable with the idea of using out-dated and hacked drivers -- especially with this particular version of windows, which is going to see regular incremental upgrades that I can't turn off, for the most part (or so I understand, anyway). I can see a situation coming where I'll wake up one fine morning, and my Vstudio 700 interface suddenly won't be stable because Microsoft pushed through some update to the OS that messed up the drivers. You gotta hope for the best, I suppose, but after spending all that money buying the system, I'd expect something better from the manufacturer than to be left in "hope it will still work tomorrow!" mode, especially when we're just a few years into the life of the product.

The drivers themselves are not hacked... the install is.

I do not have a VC, but I have been able to install several things including my very old delta 66 under windows 10 x64. The only thing I do different is I run the installer in compatibility mode to use the windows 8.1 or windows 7 mode. So far this has worked every time.

the worst thing I can think of happening is a windows update would cause problems for the driver and it may need to be reinstalled.

You are correct in assuming that not supported means you will have to find help here and other places on the web instead of the manufacturer.

    Good luck.
