I messed up the quote and placed my reply along with theirs. Here is mine , "That should be requisite nowadays. I dont feel its antiquated , but rather an old idea that should be implemented in any similar product that will be shipping in the near future..............sort of like arpeggios for keyboards".

I don't get that. DSP doesn't give you anything you can't get cheaper and more flexibly on your main processor. It's basically a fundamentally inferior design as far as I can see.

true its cheaper using your main proc. , but it also limits your sequencers capabilities when running multiple effects and synths. Even if you freeze or bounce to track your computer still has some impact to its main proc. So why not free up some power? Inferior I dont think so , but necessary in todays recording environment.

No, what I mean is, I can't think of any DSP-based solution where you couldn't get the same improvement in horsepower cheaper by upgrading your processor(s). Or spending the same money to get an even bigger improvement in horsepower.

What I meant by "antiquated" is that outboard DSP was a solution to the fact that up until pretty recently computers weren't really quite up to the job we were demanding of them. This is pretty much no longer the case with modern computers.

I'm not familiar with the compatiblity issues with upgrading your proc. to run dsp intensive effects, but if its possible I need more info cause that sounds interesting. Until then features like that are important to me so much that I was looking into a muse receptor.
