    WOW!

    Moving toward the future...I like.

But.......WHY is the interface USB ???

I thought we all knew FireWire was better.

    WoW!

    • Fully intergrated control surface
    • Dedicated audio interface
    • Built in Roland Fantom synth

    Really looks good so far.

if the audio interface is "good" then the price is "ok" the question is: who needs the fantom ??? not saying its not a good synth if you want to buy it "standalone" - but why pack it into a controlsurface with audio i/o
they could have deliberatley also included an espresso machine then

It'll more likely be around $3500 ~ $3999 depending on where you buy it. Hey, if you bought the comparable components separately you'd probably be out even more.

Maybe us Sonar8 owners will get a discount. (wishful thinking?)

Since Roland is involved, expect the price to drop to about $1500 within a year or two.

yeah they could have also included an analog reissue of the jupiter 8 (second revision) - or they could have included a theremin....
    or just this:

Think they're going for the all-in-one/complete DAW approach.

This is a good question. But, I betcha even more people would have asked why they didn't bundle the Fantom had they not included it. Everyone is looking to see what the Roland/Cakewalk partnership is going to bring out, and it appears that both companies went with "flagship" products in this package. Kudos to Cake and Roland!

$4000? When compared with my $2000 VS880, this is a really sweet deal. It's not going to replace my Lynx/Neve/Api/Motif rig, but I'd sure give it a look if I were building another DAW or another studio location. I could use more inputs, too.

Watched the little video. Nice tease Brandon

to bad it is out of my reach, but I can see it as the center of a studio that is doing it for profit. The workflow is going to be great.

Hope they take that unit and scale it down with the nine faders only as a control surface. Okay toss in the V-synth but I don't need an Audio interface for half the price.

The audio interface is stackable which doubles you're inputs.

Surely they must have experimented with it on a smaller, controller style scale. If this is true then we could quite possibly see a cakeland control surface in the near future.

Fantom owners will at least be able to sell their old one - unlike SONAR licensees.
Discount for registered SONAR users would be cool (not that I'll ever be able to afford one of these, with or without discount . . . )

The big question- how open is the control interface? Can it be used with other programs? I've been a longtime Cakewalk customer and do most of my work in Sonar, but I hate having hardware that is crippled and tied too much to a single program. For my occasional forays into other programs I would not want to lose the control surface experience!

I know some of the buttons would be Sonar only, but want to know what would work. Is it HUI compatible, for instance?

    Peace,

I notice the Control surface has an USB output.. So I'm wondering if you can just buy the control surface only.. Can we Cakewalk?
