Routing Slate SSD4 to separate tracks in X3
I am sure this has been covered elsewhere but I haven't been able to find it via searching. How do I route SSD4 to separate tracks in X3 Producer (i.e. kick to its owns track, snare to its own, toms together, hats to theirs, rides, overheads etc)?
I am hopefully soon to upgrade to Platinum, will this process change?

Hi. When you insert SSD4, make sure to route to separate mono tracks All the best.

Several ways to do that, none of them very quick. Once you get it setup you can check the "Keep Outputs" box on the SSD4 mixer page. In the example I uploaded (SPlat, but is same in X3), I inserted SSD4 into the Synth Rack and chose "All Synth Audio Outputs: Mono" This should add 24 mono tracks routed the outputs from SSD4. This is where it can get a little confusing. The 1st 16 tracks are actually L/R for the 8 stereo outs of the SSD4 and the 8 mono outputs will be routed to tracks 17-24. Another way is to get your SSD4 internal routing done first, and then assign track inputs per track in Sonar. Use the SSD4 mixer page to assign individual pieces to the outputs (see image). If you have a mono kitpiece and only a stereo output available, using the pan control on the SSD4 mixer to route the signal 100% L or R. You can then easily pan the piece as needed in Sonar. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

It seems like it would be but would it cause me to have 24 tracks?

Only if you use them all. The Blackbird kit I used in the example used 20 with OH and FX each being stereo. The kit will determine how many pieces there are. You can reduce that by utilizing the mixer in SSD4 to route like pieces (e.g. cymbals, room mics, toms, etc.) to a stereo pair and submix levels and panning using SSD4 mix controls. Also kick has 4 mics in this kit snare has 2 or 3. These can be routed so that you can reduce track count. I tend to lean toward creating buses in Sonar to group my like pieces together. (Aux tracks if you get SPlat). Good luck!
