Run Heart Run, my first actual co-write recorded in Sonar X1

Did all of the music for this, lyrics written by co-writer. Needed a country song for a friend. All music is soft synths, some very obvious. I only spent about an hour and a half on track, so please dont crucify yet. I plan on redoing the tracks to make them more realistic.

Great song,.. killer vocal performance, begging for harmony...
    this is really good music...
Overall mix needs more dynamic range... it seems overly compressed... Mandolin could come up just a bit... Acoustic guitar patch need to be cleaner... I'm nit pickin'... This really is great... She could be a star... really needs some killer Harmony on the choruses... and of course real acoustic Guitars and Mando...   Well done sir...

thanks notnat. I plan on putting some real acoustic on it, the strumming at least. Dont have a guitar player good enough to do the verse picking, so that has to stay. Dont have a mandolin player either. I will spend more time making the parts more realistic. Thanks for the comments. What did you mean by acoustic guitar needs to be cleaner? It is overly compressed because of the waves tape plugin, I hit it really hard. I will fix that also. Thanks again for the comments

what I meant was, the ac guitar patch sounds too saturated or distorted... it's a cool patch, but it really needs to be a real flat-top...
the vocalist is outstanding... did you use any pitch correction?

I use pitch correction, but try to do it judiciously. Is it very obvious? Man, I watched your Youtube videos, good stuff there. Is that you singing with the gravel in your voice?

Excellent song.  The mix sounds very good on my monitors.  The lead vocal was well recorded; I don't understand the question about pitch correction.  This need very little tweaking, imo.  Good lyrics, too.l

Thanks lynn! I think maybe he wants to know if she sings that on pitch, either that or he noticed some artifacts. Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Deliciously good. Great vocals. As notnat mentioned comes across just slightly too saturated. If you could lick that sonic element this one would rate with some of the best out there now. Also harmonies would take this over the top! Very well done.

Thanks thalweg! My co-writer is in the midst of a re-write at the moment, from suggestions we received on a songwriters website, so I will hold off until we have a final lyric, then I will attempt some harmony parts.

excellent song writing.... I agree with the compression/saturation issue..... country should have air in it.

This is great as is. Real nice voice and song. I think the compression works.

thanks timidi. I do hear a little too much distortion caused by the MPX tape plugin. Doing a rewrite on some lyrics, so I'm waiting until that is done before I redo the music tracks. Want to make sure everything fits.

Oh, by the way, the co-writer is Dottie Corley. She wrote the lyrics, and this melody jumped out at me, thought it would be a good fit for the style Tiffany likes to sing. Tiffany is 19, and does a beautiful job on anything I throw at her.
