No I saw it as a TV viewer live last night... My wife just kept saying "who is that?"

I kept saying "It's Todd Rundgren... you know who it is"

Then at the end she says "Why is he acting like Ozzy Osbourne?"

At which point I decided it was pure theater performed as high art.

It was kinda like he was looking the market straight in the eye and shouting out "buy this you buggars!"

I thought it was really fun to watch go down!

Kinda like when Lisle Lovett staged a big band and in the break asked for a cheeseburger on the *Carson* show.

    Television history.

I'm just assuming it went straight to YouTube!

    best regards,
    mike

The only thing I could find was a performance on Letterman from just before Christmas. Looking forward to catching the new bit if and when it gets posted.

Yes that is it. I didn't realize it was a taped show.

It seems that after reading the comments at YouTube that my reaction was "typical" of the people that said they enjoyed it.

    Thanks for the link Beagle!

I remember seeing that. I was sitting there thinking "what the *&%% is Todd doing? It seemed like a middle aged guy trying to cash in on the Nickleback vibe. For someone like Todd, I'm hoping it was a tongue in cheek kinda thing, because if he is seriously thinking that going the arena rock way at this stage of the game, its just plain sad.

I took it as tounge and cheek... I guess I hope it's so.

More like a self admission that's entertainment is well entertainment and not worthy of idol worship... and by acting like some sort rock idol thats decidely different from what made him famous he gets to just let entertainment be what it is.

Maybe I'm overthinking it... but that was my imediate recation. It made me chuckle... and I dug the guitarists Telecaster. Did you notice the bass player? She almost seemed embarassed to have gotten the gig. ;-)

That has to be an ironic thing surely, especially with the CD called 'Arena'..?...otherwise he's been listening to way too much AC/DC. How strange.
