Running 2 versions of MC
Has anyone tried keeping 2 versions of MC on their computer. I'd like to run both MC3 and MC 6 because MC 3 had some features I really liked that I can't seem to get with MC 6. Thanks!

Hey, stranger. Yes, you can do that. Each version is a separate program. And for the most part, plug-ins can be shared. Just out of curiosity, what features seem to be missing?

AWESOME! Hello RobertB and Guitarhacker, I hope things are good! I haven't been on here lately, the last year has been a complete write-off timewise. Things are settling down now though. Re: MC, I'd like to keep a couple of versions going because a) in one of the earlier versions, you could insert drums on the piano roll, and there was a huge drop down menu of different selections, and b) some of the plugins I had been using don't work in MC 6. One thing that does work better with 6 is that I can now record directly onto it which I couldn't before for some reason. Computer related, I'm sure, but that is now sorted. I will now install previous versions! Best news I've had all day/week......

so I re-downloaded MC 4, and it will not open. It goes through the whole VST scan, then nothing happens. Cakewalk tech support no longer offers technical support for this product, grrrr.

Ah, yes, well there's the rub. I finally (duh) realized that MC 4 is not compatible with Windows 7. Very unfortunate, but it is what it is. Cheers

You should be able to get it to work by right-clicking the icon and the executable file and set it to Run As Administrator. You may have an option to Troubleshoot Compatibility which may set the computer to run MC 4 in XP SP 3 compatibility mode, for instance. I have SONAR Home Studio 6 working... okay on this Win 7 64-bit computer. SHS 6 is older than MC 4, I believe.
