Running Korg Nanopad2 Editor at the same time as Sonar
I'm sure I used to do this, mayben on my last windows 7 laptop. I can't seem have the Nanopad connected to both Sonar and the Editor software at the same time. I can edit and save in the Editor and then open Sonar and use fine. But if I want to Edit the layout with Sonar open, I get an error message from the Editor "Failed to open Midi Port" Anyone else running Nanopad on windows 8.1 and can connect to both Sonar and Editor simultaneously?

Hmmmm... Anyone with any of the Korg Nano devices, can you run the editor and makes changes whilst the device is connected and working in Sonar?

I have a Korg NanoKontroller. I had a problem installing it in Windows 7 due to the Windows limitation on the number of MIDI devices. I had to delete some old/unused MIDI devices so I could install it. But that was the only problem. I was able to configure it in Sonar OK, although it was a manual ACT process. I don't really use it. I have a Behringer BCF 2000 and although flakey it still works. The NanoKontroller was a Musician's Friend "Stupid Deal of the Day" when I bought it. If the BCF2000 craps out I'll use the NanoKontroller until I can find a reasonable replacement. Behringer was coming out with a new control surface to replace the BCF2000 but that's been over a year ago and it appears it is just "vaporware".

Thanks for the reply, Firebird. It's running the Editor and sending a new setup to the Nanopad while it's active in Sonar that the issue. I'm wondering is this possible (I seem to recall that it is), to use the to make changed from the Editor to the korg device, whilst Sonar is in operation.

Wow, thanks Azslow for finding though quotes. I'm going crazy, I'm sure I used the two together in my last laptop (which keyboard has died in the middle, so I can't log onto it), I seems to remember being pleased with how effortless setting it up was. So I don't need to fix something that isn't broken then

I do not think it has something to do with Sonar and/or the editor. The question is either Windows allows to "share" MIDI device between 2 applications. It can happened that under some conditions (specific drivers, MIDI "virtual cables", etc) that can (could) work.
