Indeed... I've watched a couple of the PRS videos and he comes across as a nice bloke. I was attracted to their guitars mainly through "hero worship" and I think it must be slightly annoying to the other mainstream guitar manufacturers that so many prominent artists have a PRS in their collection, along with their Strats, Teles, Les Pauls and what have you. Anyway... we digress LOL

Hi,
I do not listen to music for "category" ... I listen to music for its inate beauty and work.
PERIOD
I do not listen to "romantic" when I want to hear Beethoven, or "baroque" when I want to listen to Vivaldi or Albinoni, and I find the commercialization of the "distinction" sick and boring.
It is the harshest and toughest part, of the majority of "progressive" boards, that they want to pigeonhole the whole thing in a place ... and the excuses are musical this and that which have been done for hundreds of years by many others ... and it makes the music definition sound stupid and pathetic. It also shows how musically uneducated many of those folks are, when they are generalizing a "style" to one instrument ... but my favorite has always been the stupidest one ... a sound effect defines a musical style, and I would like to turn off the electricity for many of those bands, simply to show ... they are crap!
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Me too, however, music creates and enhances a mood but the wrong song at the wrong time can sound like fingernails on a chalkboard!

I took my wife and daughter to see them on opening night in Tulsa,OK. Fantastic show! I can't wait to get the R40 dvd. I have all of their stuff...cds and dvds. A few weeks ago I watched 'A show of hands' from the 'Hold your fire' tour (1987). It's great to watch that and pretend I didn't dress like the people in the audience! The 80's were not a fashion high point if you ask me, but I love Lifeson's tone from that period.

I really do hope they've got a new live sound man. The last time I saw them was at the O2 Arena, for the Snakes and Arrows tour IIRC. Simply put, the worst live sound of any concert I've ever been to. Nothing was audible other than the bass drum. Nothing. And that sounded terrible; bloated, boomy, unpleasant. It was having a really obvious, deleterious effect on the audience. Anybody with even remotely working hearing could have put together a better live mix than that. Even randomly setting all the faders on the mixing console would have produced a better mix. I effectively left the concert at the interval and sat outside waiting for my friends feeling confused and miserable for the entire second half of the show. There were streams upon streams of people leaving the concert early, all complaining about the same thing.
Rush are my favourite group of all time, hands down, but I don't think I'll ever try to see them live again which is a real shame.

There's a "grunt" or "aggressive" type character that a nice Les Paul has (hard to describe in words)... whereas PRS guitars tend to have more subtle detail.
I like a 60's Les Paul neck slightly better than a SC245 neck... but I like the SC245 body a little better (balances better and a little more comfortable when sitting). The SC245 Pattern Regular neck is a little thicker than a 60's Les Paul (though not as thick as a 50's)... with a bit of a V shape.
My favorite of all PRS guitars is the P24 (Custom 24 with a piezo in the bridge).
We saw Rush on the previous tour. Just couldn't bring myself to spend the money this time.
Front row seats were going for $1800 each!
Would have been great to hear some of the deeper cuts played live.
