    ... including this one.

The quality of the postings is degrading lately. So many threads started about esotheric and just plainly unrelated issues. At times, just childish contributions. Many times even disturbing.

Can we get back to the technical aspects of Sonar the software, and forget about Sonar the Religion?

I asked for a general discussion forum so all unrelated posts can go and people feel no need to bring up everything on this sonar forum.Without general discussion forum i'm sure more unrelated posts will pop up here because people are going to be people and naturally expand their conversation. Hopefully cakewalk will hear my cry's.

This is a fantastic idea... a virtual Coffee House of sorts. I wonder why no one has thought of that.

I'm aware of the old coffee house forum, but as i said on another thread any forum (including this one) can get out of order, it's just about enforcing rules and learning from mistakes. Trial and error is at the heart of what developments about.

Great idea. Most other forums have an "off-topic" section. It would take that and daily monitoring by the forum moderators, as well as a good deal of moved posts in the beginning. Once people got the idea that non-Sonar posts wouldn't be tolerated in the Sonar forum, I think things would be a little more orderly around here. Personally I would also like to see cryptically titled posts be moved, such as:

    "I am so pissed...."
    "Why can't I"....
    "Is it just me, or...."
    "Help!!!!!!!!!!"

Again, once people got the idea that they must post a reasonably understandably subject line, I think it would bring a little more order and calm to this forum.

Just my opinion of course. Slam at it/me as you see fit.

On reflection, I think this isn't a bad idea. Another vote here.

I agree - it’s a great idea. I think the coffee house forum would help prevent Q&A (technical) threads from being high jacked by those who want to pontificate rather than answer a question. Perhaps some of the rant traffic would go there as well…

Agreed. But didn't there used to be a coffee house that got closed because of excessive misbehaviour? Or was that somewhere else.. I can't remember.

No you're right, it was here, but it morphed into something really horrible, as can happen with certain internet forums

You have the option of ignoring threads that don't meet your high standards in the port title.

Sadly, Sid, it seems that most forum members are like Pavlov's dog and an all-caps header is like a ringing bell. Ooops, I'm drooling again.
