    According to Cakewalk:

    * SONAR does not support Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, or 2000

    Its WindowsXP or XP/x64 only.

I could be wrong, but I think "does not support " means customer support, not "it won't work"
I remember reports of people running S5 under 2000, but I don't know if S6 works or not.

That is correct. S6 will install under Windows 2000, but it is not one of our supported configurations. So we don't actively test for this configuration anymore besides the most rudimentary tests.

I'm still running 2000, recently installed PE5.2 and had a few issues with file saving, but they seem to have cleared up. I'm going to try PE 6 with 2000 as soon as it arrives, but will upgrade to XP if I must (grudgingly, I really like 2k).

I know of very few things that are specified for "win Xp only" that cant run just fine in Win 2000 SP4.

Sonar 7.0.3, Mattel Synsonics, Motu 828MKII (BLA), TC-powercore, Stillwell plugins, Moog MG1, Korg Poly 800, DX27s, Moogerfooger Lowpass, Ovation Magnum, Stingray fretless, Mesa Bass 400, Waldorf Edition, DBA fuzz war, Summit 2BA221, etc

can vista just hurry up and get here? XP 64 is still born, and I am not shelling out for XP only to buy Vista less than one year later.

My S6 PE upgrade arrived today and I just attempted to install 3 times. I'm getting data errors when it tries to load content files for Real Space and RXE. I'm not sure if it's a bad install disk or a dynamic that makes it troublesome to install in W2k. Anyone else having install hassles?

Again... not for SONAR 6... but I installed and use SONAR 5 with no real problems on Win2K (which has the same min req. as SONAR 6)

I run SONAR 5 and it is the Producer Edition... (note 5 not 6)

Downloaded the trial for MAX/MSP but they're so sure it won't run on Windows 2000 (my work machine not my daw) that the installer stops you from even trying. :(

I got S6 PE installed on my W2k system yesterday, plan on messing with it today, so I'll post later today to report success or failure. I'm still scratching my head on why I had several install failures and then it just loaded up with no problems. Dontcha just love computers?

I have W2K SP4. So far, Sonar 6 PE runs just fine, just as Sonar 5 PE did.

Well I had a 50/50 result. On my internet system (which I am typing to you now from) It did the thingiothe other guy described with DLLs not registering. On my backup DAW It installed fine, but I have no audio drivers on it so I couldnt check anything.

I'm having a few minor problems, but been able to work around them. It took me 5 attempts to successfully install, and I'm having some similar issues saving projects that I did with S5 early on. I have to use the "Save As" command instead of "Save", otherwise the program crashes without saving. All plugins loaded successfully, but I haven't actually activated any in my 1st test mix, hope to make more progress there this weekend.
