Yeh, Nigel, I've no use for bit crushers. Fingernails on a chalkboard to my crusty old ears. But I'd be happy to just put some virtual tape over that virtual knob and pretend it wasn't there.
Controlled harmonic distortion is a good thing. Potentially, a Very Good Thing. I do have Saturn, but although it's usually the first one I try, it isn't always the one I end up using. There is a gap in my toolkit that even the mighty Saturn can't fill, which is why I looked into SDDR.
What I really want is the standalone equivalent of Ozone 4's (not ver. 5's!) harmonic exciter in Tube mode. Perhaps SDDR is versatile enough to cover that, but without a demo there's no way to know. Sure, 30 bucks is a small gamble, but these days even 30 bucks doesn't go out the door without careful consideration.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
