SF is locking up when scanning for plugins

This is not directly a Sonar question, however, if anyone here can help that sure would be sweet with sprinkles scruched over on one side kinda nice.
SF is locking up when scanning for plugins, as a stand alone app, and linking from Sonar.

SoundForge Ctrl+Shift held down at application launch = not helping
What is the procedure to run SF without scanning the entire Hard Drive for VST plugins?

I've had the problem with other software (Sony Vegas). It doesn't search the whole hard drive, just the default vst folder. My workaround was to move the "offending" plugin to a different folder and tell Sonar where to look for it. How did I find the offending plugin, I don't remember. Does your SF list the plugins as it scans?

bvideo makes a good point. What may be even better is to place the plug ins you want to use with SoundForge into a folder in a separate directory from other plug ins and setup Soundforge to only scan that directory.

That way, you can narrow it down to plug ins in that one directory. If you really want to troubleshoot thoroughly, place one plug in at a time in that directory, do a scan and see if Soundforge crashes. If Soundforge doesn't crash, you know that plug in is OK. If you add a plug in, do a scan, and Soundforge crashes, you found an offending plug in. Take out that plug in and proceed.

    Hope this helps.

Maybe way out on this one - but wouldn't it wiser to run it stand alone (not through Sonar) when scanning plugs? Unless it was a typo, it looks like you are opening SF from Sonar. May not matter - unless you have plugs already in the project.  Maybe.
