SFZ/SoftSynth issues?

I have two versions of the Cakewalk SFZ soundfont player, an external one and the one within Sonar X1 Producer. For some reason, the external one will open all my soundfonts (.sf2 format), but the one within Sonar X1 won't open any of them, however it will open piano soundfont that came with the program. Why is that happening?

Also, when I use the SFZ within the program, there is a very slight delay on the action, which is noticeable when playing to the click. It does not do this when I use the external version. My father told me it has something to do with the "echo" function on each track, but I remember disabling those....

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Its a weird situation(about not loading soundfonts)
The delay/latency thing you should adjust the buffer size in Sonar control panel, or the ASIO one.
There are others free soundfont players like Shortcircuit VSTi, or SafFron SoundFont Player, try them and let see what happens

The Sonar one might not be looking in your SF folder - make sure.  Does the "external" version play the piano the SONAR one does?

by external I suppose you mean one that doesn't show up in SONAR's soft synth list.  It is probably a microhost version (I'm guessing here).  It is the same program, just hooked into the computer differnetly.

Well when I click the little bar that you click to load the soundfonts, it opens the computer explorer so that you can load them from whatever folder they're in...so I'm not sure if the folder they're in has much to do with it, but I'll try moving them to the same folder and see if that works. Thanks.
